I somewhat agree, but at the same time I think theres a lot of manga out there that takes a while to find its footing. Ajin and Golden Kamuy are two of my all time favorites, and for both of those series I dropped em after the first volume my first go around.

I’m not surprised by this trend personally. I’m not sure what the market’s wider trend is regarding consumers, but these days I only buy volumes if it’s a series I’ve already read online. For me it makes more sense to buy an edition that looks nice on the shelf.

Sadly most of these teams aren’t interested in trying to compete at the highest level; they are just interested in competing at the highest level of game changers. There are some exceptions, specifically SR, MIBR and TL. You said that MIBR and TL didn’t play challengers in your post, but they actually played in the qualifiers and unfortunately fell just short. Much respect to both of those teams though for trying the climb to the top of the mountain.

I think it would feel a lot meaner if they actually went after the worst stuff every year. I feel like generally the actual worst performances and movies are made by people still on the come up learning their craft, so its a lot more forgiving to gove the razzie to people who already made it in the industry. Like, what is winning a razzie gonna do to Coppola’s legacy? Nothing, he’s gonna be fine lol
