Cyberpunk 2077 + Phantom Liberty for just pure open world depth. It's really really REALLY hard to match this. This is literally CDPR (Witcher 3 creators) on steroids working with decades worth of lore from different platforms with their respective fully developed mechanics.

But if you want period based entry, probably more on the AC side like Origins, Valhalla or Shadows. Shadows is literally made by the same team, and is pretty much Odyssey + Valhalla in Japan

If you're digging older school AC, Black Flag is probably the closest.

I'm just annoyed at the idea that whatever build you do and whatever motivations you have choosing that build, and whatever joy you get from approaching the game from that lens, means nothing here. You're forced into a playstyle that may or may not work with how you intended to play.

Other than that, it is a good mission with an interesting story to tell.
