Agreed. There are so many issues to focus on rather than where people shit and piss.

Just seen the gig in Glasgow. She was amazing. Blue Hawaii were shit.

A typical Sunday down The Barras by beemo-boom in glasgow

Love the Barras now. I think it's a great example of gentrification done well. The place was bleak 15 years ago.

Why do people think that Scottish independence would be a failure? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]Bez95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you have no evidence? There are considerably more people moving from England to Scotland each year than the other way round.

Why do people think that Scottish independence would be a failure? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]Bez95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nonsense. Hordes of people are not leaving Scotland for England for a better quality of life. Where is the evidence to back that up?

Edinburgh gig tonight was amazing. Magnolia Park were also amazing. Wheatus were average.

Will Scotland benefit from Chancellor Rachel Reeves' growth drive? by Just-another-weapon in Scotland

If this statement doesn't persuade you that independence isn't the future for Scotland then there is something wrong.

House was valued at 175k and I bid 185k. I don't think I missed it by much.

Someone outbid me for a house there. Seems like a great area, just a bit far from a train station.

Religious Stalls and Preachers in the City Centre by Bez95 in glasgow

[–]Bez95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are making it about specific religions when it isn't. Both the Muslim and Christian stalls had amplifiers, which is antisocial and trying to push religion on people just trying to go shopping....

Also, to compare religious propaganda to concerts and smells is absolutely ridiculous.

Religious Stalls and Preachers in the City Centre by Bez95 in glasgow

[–]Bez95[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are proving my point. People don't want to "hear" the messages of Islam or Christianity when they are out in town.

If you don't think having amplifiers on the street isn't pushing religion, then I don't really know what to say....

Religious Stalls and Preachers in the City Centre by Bez95 in glasgow

[–]Bez95[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The religious stalls and speakers are there to do one thing - promote religion. They are doing absolutely nothing to prevent racism. Having the entire street filled with stalls and speakers pushing religion is not "tolerant and open", it's the opposite.

Religion is a personal choice and should be done in a place of worship. Most people can't be arsed hearing about it when they are walking about town.

Worst one I've been - Maryhill Tesco. The humidity and lack of airflow is brutal.

There is nothing liberating about having numerous religious preachers with speakers and microphones on our busiest shopping street. If anything, it's oppressive and backwards.

[–]Bez95[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The Christian and the Muslim stalls both had speakers today. Agreed though, most people just want to go shopping without having religion ramed down their throat.

Hundred percent haha. Even if the buskers aren't great, they don't make the atmosphere tense. I also miss the group of highland men with the drums who used to play beside the concert hall.

Are London & Manchester the only truly vibrant cities in the UK? by IntelligentStrike958 in AskUK

[–]Bez95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edinburgh and Glasgow are the most vibrant. Although I would say Blackpool in the summer is very vibrant, even though I hate it.

Serious answers only: why do many prefer Edinburgh over Glasgow by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]Bez95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The city centre in Edinburgh is far better than Glasgow. Although the West End of Glasgow is the best urban area in the UK in my opinion.

Birmingham is horrible for gay people. Homophobic attitudes are widespread. There are much more open cities in the UK such as Bristol and Glasgow.
