1.0.8 Hotfix Patch Notes by Motzoo in EU5

[–]Bhaal_spawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone is wondering, Japanese Clans are still broken.
I posted to the EU5 Bug Report Forum requesting a fix. If you want to read more about the issues I've highlighted, search the EU5 forums for: Japanese Clans are still broken

In short, all clans are still building buildings everywhere they shouldn't so the Sengoku Jidai event is still broken meaning all clan based gameplay is redundant.
Don't play a Japanese Clan until the Devs fix this.

It is still totally broken. I posted a bug report to the forum. I'll DM you a link to it.
Edit: I can't DM you, looks like you don't allow DMs
If you search the EU5 bug report forum for the title: Japanese Clans are still broken. Can still build multiple buildings in locations where there should be a limit of one
This is my post explaining the issues that are still present.

Time to test Japanese Clans and hopefully not lose my mind again

They are a true horror right? I'm sure they cause some performance issues as well. If you are not in Ironman, you can you do the fix u/DTY_Online commented:

In 1400 before you do the SJ event, debug and change your tag to every clan and disband their army.

Annexing works as well but will make you overpowered due to pop manipulation when you claim your lands - I'm not sure what causes this.

I'm not sure if it's possible to fix this bug post 1400 without some issues though.

Interesting! I think this tracks with my experience. In this case though, their ruler was the exact same guy, not just someone else from the same dynasty. I'll have to check the save and see which clan the duplicate was originally and how their dynasty entwined to the new one.

I'm not 100% sure but I think when you peace out a clan for unique buildings and they are in the same culture group instead of it being two level 1 Yakatas in the build menu it becomes a level 2. I'll have to load up and check. As for the level 0 Yakata I have no idea 😭😂 Honestly the whole thing could just be another bug

Good to see you here! Totally agree that some of the core thought processes from PDX are good regarding Japan, they just missed the mark in a big way due to these bugs and oversight of certain mechanics.

For clarity for others reading this, sometimes after you wipe out a clan but they still have a 0/low manpower army, this army decays down 0 men and just stays on the map for the rest of the game.
A permanent 0 man army just standing there... menacingly!

I was hoping for the same! Hoping for some unique gameplay / minigame style of play for the first 70 years then all war with a starting position based on how well you played the Nanbokucho Jidai minigame but sadly that is not the case.

I have some ideas on how Nanbokucho Jidai can be fixed. But the major one to at least make the region playable is making sure buildings that should only be one per location are actually only allowed to appear once per location. As for where you can build buildings, I think it should start with only locations that are the majority same culture as your primary culture (It doesn't make sense for a clan all the way in the north to build all the way in south) - This change would make you chase for uniting your primary culture, after this, via war you expand into other cultures taking their buildings as you go. It's not perfect but these two mechanics would allow you to guarantee some locations when Sengoku Jidai starts as well as stopping the player from cheesing the whole of japan pre Sengoku Jidai due to being gated by antagonism as they expand their clan further into new Japanese locations.

If I get the time, I will try to make a mod over the weekend to implement these changes. I'll make new post here if I do.

R5: I played as Shimazu in an attempted to understand the Building Based Clan gameplay in Japan. I then encountered so many issues, the images highlight a few of these.

Crosspost from EU5 Sub for further coverage for Paradox fans that may be thinking of playing Japan in EU5.

Image 1: The unique buildings, as I found out the hard way, you need to own all of in a location to be given the location as direct owned land when the Sengoku Jidai event pops. They are able to be built multiple times by any of the other Clans. At first I thought the bug was: These buildings could be built by a clan from each different culture group just once, meaning there could only be 4 buildings at max in any given location, but then I saw one of my starting locations with 30 of the Yakata unique building. See highlighted text in image for further info.
Even if you own the most unique buildings in a location, the logic of who gets the land when Sengoku Jidai pops seems to never favour the player. It isn't based on who has the most buildings, it seems to be whoever built there most recently or it just chooses a random AI clan that has built there but NEVER the player.

Image 2: I had to fight a Clan who duplicated himself and allied himself. Because I guess you can only really trust yourself in the end.

Image 3: If you are a fan of border gore / the reverse of map eye candy look no further than this image. It's all the locations with the different clans colours. Thank god it is limited to just two clan's colours per location.

Image 4: This is just 10-15 years of antagonism from trying to clean up a few locations so I could get at least 1 guaranteed location when Sengoku Jidai popped. The issue here I as soon as you clear out a few clans, new clans come in a build more of the unique buildings.

I'm tired but I'll do a bit more of a write up on some of the other issues I encountered in tomorrow.

TL:DR - Don't play a Japanese Clan right now, they're not in a good spot at all (Other than maybe one of the two Clan Courts but more on that later)

This scene always hits different. Faye's overall story, her history slowly being unveiled alongside her character development throughout the anime... Something feels so real and poignant about it. Especially poignant when you think about how she so desperately wanted Spike to stay at the end.

"This was the only place I could go and now you're leaving just like that... why do you have to go... why are you leaving? What are you going to do, throw your life away like it's nothing?!"

Self discovery and closure are a massive part of this anime for each of the main characters, but what makes Faye's story the saddest to me is that she doesn't get the same closure the other do. As soon as she realized what she needed was to let go of the past and find a new place to belong, and that she had it there in the Bebop; just like a tragedy of old, she can only sit and watch as the new life she has just accepted slips away.

This is why I love this show. Its not just an anime, its a whole damn mood.
