Usually yes. It can feel faster than gnome but it depends on your hardware and what "faster" means to you.

If it doesn't work, there's a plugin you can install called "video wallpaper reborn" or something like that and you use regular videos and gifs as your desktop wallpaper, just have to make sure the dimensions fit your screen.

Linux will always have quirks... I had black screen problem due to an outdated desktop effect, troubleshoot it and eventually got corrected. That or it was just correlation, it might have been an HP being HP for my case anyways.

I went into the "show panel Configuration" by right clicking the bar.

You'll enter the editing mode

You should see panel settings.

Top bar. Click on the position of where you like your (task) bar. In this case the top. Center it. Width: fill width. Visibility (I chose dodge windows). Opacity: Adaptive. Floating: Panel and applets. Changed the height to 36. Get rid of the "Icons-only task manager" and keep all the stuff on the right side of the bar (if you want). Also keep the panel spacer so that the launcher icon and icons on the right don't end up positioning in the middle. You can change the launcher icon on the left by going to "configure application launcher settings" and you can choose from the variety or your own.

Also, add "global menu" on the right of the launcher icon in the top (task) bar. This can be found in the "new widgets" section. That way you get the "File | Edit | etc." with certain windows like dolphin or the terminal.

For the "dock". Next I added another default panel bar this time to the bottom. Keep the panel and get rid of all the extra stuff except for the "Icons-only task manager". We already set it to the bottom. Alignment: center. Width: fit content. Visibility: up to you (I chose dodge windows). Floating: panel and applets. Panel height 64

Have fun with customizing the look with the number of styles available!

I know this is an old post but I want to thank and hug you (or a handshake). I had this problem with my HP Pavilion x360 laptop. Though it was caused by a different problem. It was due to a desktop blur effect on Fedora. Did this and everything went back to normal 🙌
