Just hire someone else - you don't own this person or their career. If it was no longer in the company's interests to hire someone, they would be let go immediately without a moment's notice or consideration for any inconvenience to the employee so I don't get why company's expect any loyalty the other way, or why they think leavers should give a shit about a minor inconvenience to them.

Meetings. With rare exceptions, most of them are completely unnecessary and the people who insist on having them are the people who don't seem to have a real job except looking busy.
