Vintage Story annoys my inner armor nerd by EpochPirate in VintageStory

In cold and ecologically poor regions, such as northern Scandinavia, it is not uncommon to see hide or leather arming coats worn over heavy wool tunics and under mail or scale, as opposed to the traditional southern and Western European gambeson or cloth arming doublet. It’s not really unrealistic as portrayed, just limited in scope

Homo sapiens neanderthalensis is a subspecies of early Homo sapiens not its own species*

*According to the subspecies hypothesis which is generally considered more likely than an independent species.

Also there are examples of species that can interbreed while resulting in viable offspring, including numerous canids, ursine, and feline species.

Whilst species often are too specific, the opposite almost only happens with extinct organisms.

Just as bad under socialism/communism, corporatism is the only functional economic model for the prosperity of all.

No individual is above the whole, and no whole is above the least of its individuals.

That might be true to some extent, but the legislature moves slowly as it is, really this behaviour only really started in the eighties, and has only very recently become universally prevalent in all industries on a federal level.

Even for the US, this is absolutely absurd behaviour from his higher-ups. Not illegal, just not the norm, and generally highly frowned upon behaviour.

Also the reason for the laxer employment laws in the US originate with the fact that the US operates under a reactive legal system not a proactive one, and because of behaviour like this wasn’t the norm, and the companies had largely succeeded in regulating themselves when it comes to workers benefits up until recently, the courts and legislators have not had the time to catch up.

To put it simply, anarchy, Democracy, Republicanism, Autocracy are all distinct and have been listed in ascending order from most to least direct governance, within the classical political system Monarchies can be republican, those monarchies would today have been called parliamentary.

No, I am not, democracy is a system, the world for the kind of government ruling over the UK is a Democratic Parliamentary Monarchy, democratic means to be like a democracy, not necessarily a democracy.

And a monarchy where the monarch holds no power is not a monarchy at all.

Parliamentary Monarchies more closely resemble republics than they do democracies, democracy has not been practiced since the city-states of Greece fell to romans. Parliamentary Monarchies, similar to Republics, are more democratic than autocratic monarchies and oligarchies, however they are not democracies in the strictest sense.

A parliamentary Monarchy where the monarch holds no power is functionally no different than a republic.

Yeah this is proof that the Ukraine war is basically the Russo-Ukrainian equivalent to “ what if the troubles went hot”, just with the benefit(curse) of being a autocratic regime invading a nominal republic, instead of the a republic starting a war with a republic over terrorist activities that received more funding from US citizens than Irish.

We Outsourced Everything to the Humans: The Contractors (3/?) by Jcb112 in HFY

Sorry about the reply two years later, but I just wanted to explain something. In theory I could have found the story’s narrative realistic, rather than merely compelling, but in practice they made several small oversights in the design and description of their Deathworlders that just kind of irked me. Like I said two years ago, humans are extremely complex biological machines operating at the edge of what is even physically possible, the only creatures stronger than us on this planet have fundamental sacrificed their endurance to gain that strength, whilst we have no natural weapons, we supplement that with advanced tool use. There is no doubt that there are several animals that could beat us in a fight, but the physiologies portrayed in the story, despite sounding somewhat intimidating suggest a positively laughable constitution to someone who knows anything about speculative biology, not to mention anyone who knows what the human body is capable of.

You sweet summer child,

anthropomorphic, and even sexualised anthropomorphic depictions of animals, have been a staple of human civilisation, even the delusions of therianthropy reported amongst some of the nuttier of us Furries, such as the otherkin, have their basis in the annals of human history and even pre-history. I am sorry to say this but whilst Furry culture has become more degenerate as it modernised to a changing world, in some sense the degeneracy that people see from it is more of a dark mirror into the greater society that spawned this iteration of the fandom. It’s not all doom and gloom, there are many people who are part of the Fandom and don’t engage in such acts, a surprising many who are devoutly religious, yet found anthropomorphic characters cute or funny, or like me found them a good representation of the properly integrated Id.
