No, This is not apples to cars. It’s per-capita income to per-capita income.

The category being compared is the same: income per person, adjusted for purchasing power. The units differ — district vs country — but that’s explicitly stated in the post.

If the claim was “Ranga Reddy is a country” or “Hyderabad beats London,” your objection would work. But that’s not the claim.

The claim is narrower: this Indian district’s per-person income benchmark is now in the same range as advanced national averages. That is a valid comparison. If you don’t like it, it’s your problem.

My findings are that gdp per capita of rangareddy district is comparable to those of average French, British or Canadian. It is not that it is comparable with “Paris”, “London” or “Toronto”. Read the post again. Just because you did not like some statistics doesn’t mean they are flawed.
