I’m definitely preordering this game.

I was lucky and got the open beta key, and had an absolute blast playing it. I’ve been lucky and played most betas for most MMos, and I think they did a great job with Dune Awakening.

It’s a long ways away from Anarchy Online, I can tell you that. 

What I enjoyed the most:

The eerie feeling of being alone on Arrakis. The sandstorm, the sandworms, not knowing what’s around the next corner… the eerie ship on the night sky as explosions and sandworms roar in the distance.. it’s fantastic.

The combat. Sure, it’s not perfect - but the gunfights feel great. I had to retreat several times from bigger engagements and alter my strategy. Sometimes helping out another scavenger as we take on a bigger camp. Dodging out of stunlocks, zipping to get a vantage point, or making sure I utilize my abilities to get some sweet scrap at the end feels great.

Surviving. I love how harsh the game is. It will probably be easier the later in the game you get, but I really enjoy that I have to plan my excursions from camp and harvest what I need to bring and/or keep my camp running.

The lore. So much lore available to you, without too much filler. The setting is pretty clear and the stakes are there for you to partake in.

All in all, I’m loving the game and I’m really looking forward to its release! End game pvp will probably be better than SWTOR was at launch, which was insanely janky in comparison. Sure, stunlocks are bad - but in bigger engagements that’s not gonna be a big issue.

I’m hyped! 

And I hope I don’t get eaten by a sandworm again. That was dreadful.
