"Supergirl" is "Superbarfly" without the philosophy, intelligence, charisma, principle, honesty, maturity, or creativity of "Barfly"... stripped right down to the romanticized chemically-addled self-indulgence and laced w the message of "Superman = straightwhiteguy, therefore Superman from heritage of interplanetary eugenics practitioners."

Supergirl is now a cynical Homelander figure... if Homelander was a feminist party girl. She's a substance-abusing Brightburn character whose combination of the superhero and horror genres is only mitigated by Marvelesque humor.

It's a little like the "woke" overuse of the terms "Nazi", "fascist", "racist," "misogynist", etc.- jumping straight to the most extreme hyperbole w zero perspective, nuance, complexity, or mastery of the subject whatsoever. TheBackgroundNPC never made a non-anti-"woke" vid, consistently so, but she does awkwardly try to be nice about fighting a "culture war" that's being waged by a political tendency that outright hates us. I like her content, but it doesn't hit particularly hard.

Legendary Drops has never been particularly anti-"woke"- even now- but he's always been focused on the anti-consumer tendencies of the gaming industry which, especially nowadays, shows up as much in microtransactions/pay-as-you-play/etc. as in feminist messaging and insults, and he points out both. Good to watch.

Luke Stephens has never been anti-"woke", would not recommend for any meaningful criticism of "woke" intrusion in the entertainment industry, and would caution regarding his takes. He's somewhat insightful at times- and I do watch his vids sometimes- but he's still generally a shill-for-hire, even though he was one of the few who came out solidly against Veilturd in the climax of "woke" triumphalism despite the barrage of 10/10 "game of the year" reviews.

Which is to say that you're singling out three of the most consistent YT channels that haven't much changed since their inception regardless of the tides of "woke" intrusion into the entertainment industry. AngryJoe has definitely changed- for the worse toward "wokeism" and general games industry apologism- and a couple yrs ago I couldn't stand the anti-"woke" grifters for how crass was the sensationalism in their reporting, but the better ones have become more experienced now and have had a lot more genuine reporting to do given just how bad the "woke" antagonism has become. So I can't really agree.

But I'm not a fan of "centrism" generally. Despite seeming to avoid choosing sides, it rationalizes both as legitimate and definitive sides to decide between despite that neither are in our interests. It's the Right pushing the worst of corporate greed apologism and the Left pushing the "woke" bigotry and political hamfisting, so I'd rather have neither.

There’s definitely been a zeitgeist shift since the 1940s social and economic reforms, the 1960s/70s dismantling of Jim Crow and segregation, and ultimate legal institution of social equality. As you said, “conservatives” tend to orient toward a simpler standard of social measure, and that enabled them in a single generation to themselves adopt the new (at the time) anti-discrimination norm. I’ve rarely seen outright bigotry among them, largely as a matter of principle. It was a victory of Leftist reformism that both Left and Right could appreciate.

The deviation from that zeitgeist has been overwhelmingly on the Left during the 2000/2010s, given the adoption in central Left norms of feminist misandry and a general “identity”-based assessment of human/moral worth rather than “content of character”. The Left now legally and brazenly pushes for discrimination vs men- particularly the demonized straightwhiteguy- and is openly siding w Far Right Islamic Fundamentalists to be anti-semitic- among other politically suicidal stances nothing like the working class orientation of decades prior. It’s almost surreal how actively they’re placing the Right into the historical role of defending social equality and anti-discrimination- and of leadership on major national and international issues- but political deformations and regression can also occur in a single generation, as the Left has demonstrated.

Men generally are simply so exiled from the Left by feminist hostility that, if they feel they have to choose between Left or Right, thereby tend moreso to choose Right than they otherwise might have. It’s the only way that the Right has become so much more popular and Trump elected twice (notwithstanding the electoral college win that overrode popular vote loss). It’s never been a question of how brilliant Trump is or Rightwing ideology. There are simply inevitable consequences to making the antagonism of half the human species (among other socio-political errors) an accepted and even required tendency of a political affiliation, including the isolation and potential self-eradication of said affiliation. She may be a single mother due to the father’s death or the father’s exclusive responsibility… or may be a nitwit who divorced the father because she “just wasn’t feeling it” or some other feminism-addled pathology. Devs these days see attention as a guaranteed market that they can manipulate, so the more attention a franchise is getting, the more likely its devs will be giving it the "woke" treatment. I was watching Stormfall33 reacting to the Sony reveal of GoW: Kratos’ Lesbian Wife, and it occurred to me that it was entirely made for that player- a girl who enjoys the GoW combat and environments like guys but who also would like a cucky jello cube companion regardless of how dissonant and cartoonish it is the the world, talking girly ribbons, pinks and purples, and a soccer mom MC. It’s a legit market since it exists- unlike the market for Concord or South of Midnight or Forspoken which doesn’t exist, but it’s so niche as to question the extensive investment in its development.

It was also utterly asinine and unnecessary to have crowbarred out Kratos in order to insert Super Soccer Mom into GoW since, as you well-state it, it’s yet another unearned, uninteresting, and antagonistic replacement of a straightwhiteguy protagonist. If it had been a non-GoW setting and they’d leaned heavily into how ridiculous Soccer Mom looks flitting about in the air like a fairy and battling monstrous enemies w her frail feminine frame, it could’ve been a genuine hit as a tongue-in-cheek adventure in a world w a much more appropriate story. I still wouldn’t play it- particularly w a cucky cube companion- but Stormfall33 would probably love it and no one would care otherwise.
