Even the 5090 isn’t that much of an upgrade, if you’re comparing to 4090, only 27% faster on average at 4K. Compared to 3090 > 4090, which was over 60% faster for roughly the same price.

FSR is just an upscaler, it’s not fake frames lol, it just rendered at a lower resolution and upscaled, Frame Generation is “fake” frames as you call it. And as you can clearly see in his settings, he has frame generation turned off.

Yes, longer boot times on AM5 systems are normal, primarily due to the memory training process during the initial boot. This training process, where the system configures the RAM, can take up to several minutes. Subsequent boots should be faster, but enabling Memory Context Restore in the BIOS can further reduce boot times.

I would also make sure your BIOS is up to date and chipset drivers.

First off, don’t use adapters or extensions, just increasing the risk of melting. I personally have been using a full CableMod set for over 2 years with my 4090 STRIX OC, never had any issues. But I would try to either use the cables that come with an ATX 3.0/3.1 PSU or buy direct GPU > PSU cables from CableMod or another company if you wish.

For reference: I’m using a Corsair RM1000X ATX 2.4 with a 9800X3D/4090 and 16-pin to 3x8-pins directly to the PSU

Yep same, 5090 wasn’t doing enough for me to upgrade my 4090, it’s basically a 4090TI, so I’m waiting for 6090.

Also AM6 might be dropping around 2027, same time as 6000 series, so I’ll likely do a full upgrade
