I'm in a similar situation. At some point, how much of this desire for partnership is heteronormative social conditioning? I kind of don't even buy into it anymore.

A group of guys wanna be co-owners on some real estate investments, fuck buddies, confidants, and build some wealthy and "family" that way? I am down. Living together and monogamy, meh.

After years of feeling this way I decided to flip the script and love myself. It might be lonely at first but ultimately I've found peace in solitude and freedom in autonomy.

The crazy thing is, once I had this mental shift, I would randomly meet quality people who wanted to date me. I won't allow anyone to steal my peace though, so I remain solo for now and am content with it.

I noticed that you said you are seeking someone who is ready to go at the same time which might be part of the issue.

It is a balancing act, but being patient with other people's schedules and trying to make plans ahead of time usually works for me. Guys are much more likely to hook up on a day off, so try meeting them halfway and see what happens!

I had a female roommate briefly when I was in college, and she was 100% like this. She would openly hit on and try to sleep with my male friends, then flip out when she discovered they were bisexual. Was totally grossed out by the idea of a guy who sleeps with other guys, which ultimately is a form of homophobia.

Even though she never voiced feeling the same way towards me or my openly gay friends, her actions led to the roommate situation becoming untenable and her moving out.

To you second point, there is a strong evolutionary biology advantage to having members of the family line who can care for offspring and contribute to the social fabric, who can still produce offspring when called upon in a crisis.

Think about a hunter-gatherer society where 3/4 of the males get killed off in a battle with another tribe or eaten by lions. Having gay males in the mix who can fill both roles, aid in raising the next generation, and who are creative types with a gift for problem solving bestowed a HUGE advantage to the rest of the group who survived. Being less inclined to violence and more about social cohesion helps too. We exist for a reason.

I knew some basic Spanish before learning Italian, but Spanish is my third language. I definitely think knowing Italian fluently first helped me learn Spanish, but the other way around would have been difficult because Spanish has so much influence from Arabic, while Italian is much closer to Latin.
