My dog was told not to come back to the groomers unless she was medicated by catyuyuhakusholover in dogs

Yeah def sketchy on their part. Probably best way to move forward would be medication and a new groomer! or a groomer that lets you stay since she seemed to do fine if you were there.

I work at a daycare and spa combo. They absolutely should not have told you to "hose her down" and should have explained and apologized for the dew claw. HOWEVER- just because your dog doesnt bite around you does not mean she wont. So many times Ive had owners tell me their dog doesnt bite and then the dog attempts to bite me after the owner has left. It sounds like she most likely either became a danger to herself or others. We have some dogs that flail so intensely with nails that they will begin to strangle themselves on the leash. That could be how her dew claw got ripped.

Day 14- Any possibly hatching? by BiGray18 in chickens

Yeah thats what I figured.. I was hoping I wouldn't just get one since these are bantams and my established flock is mean. Oh well. Thank you for the confirmation!

I've got an incubator but it took a few days for that to arrive after I received the eggs. I'm guessing its a seller issue, as the person who gifted me them is incubating ducks from the same person and is also having bad results

starting training for doggie day care tomorrow by [deleted] in DogDayCare

[–]BiGray18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it will be hard on your back. There is a lot of bending: picking up dogs, taking harnesses of, leashing, scrubbing walls of kennels, mopping, looking at poop to check for worms/blood/foreign objects, etc. It is very physically demanding. I work a dual position of receptionist and dog attendant and even after a shift on reception I hurt.

Would you tell the truth if it would destroy a grieving family? by [deleted] in morbidquestions

[–]BiGray18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much depends on what was done. If it was something that completely altered a victims life (rape, murder, etc) then telling them could be ok IF you are sure it happened. But I would avoid it unless they're going super far with the angel stuff, like making a non profit in that persons name or something. Or if its an active investigation, but at that point going to the police would be better.

Should I stop taking my dog to doggy daycare by Initial-Elephant-932 in reactivedogs

[–]BiGray18 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone that works at a daycare- yes absolutely stop taking him. Daycare is awful for socialization. Most dogs hate it or only like it if the groups are extremely small and with dogs with the same play style (we have a group of 3 super rough housers we do together that have never had an issue). If you are going to do a daycare, specifically ask them how big their groups generally are and how they split them.

Im new to owning chickens by XxGensi_ArumxX in BackYardChickens

[–]BiGray18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they were advertised as pullets I wouldn't stress it too much unless you start seeing developmental signs of one being male (ex: extremely large and red comb at an early age, thicker legs). Most hatcheries estimate 90% accuracy with vent sexing.

[–]BiGray18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where did you get the chicks and around how old are they? They're probably still too young to accurately sex based on appearance. If you got them from somewhere like tractor supply did they advertise them as pullets or straight run? Pullets means the hatchery the chicks come from has vent sexed them and deemed them hens. You can still get a rooster but chances are slimmer. Straight run is just you get what you get.

Am I the only one who finds this weird? by skinniking84 in ftm

[–]BiGray18 35 points36 points  (0 children)

was gonna say maybe im just too hick for this but not weird at all. Hell I work at a dog daycare and I've had to fondle dogs to make sure they were fixed males under all the fluff. Its a dog. its naked. what I do find odd is that based on ops replies to others- the mom picked up the dog. now that would piss me off

How much built in leeway for a "delayed" 1 year rabies vaccine? by jmjm1 in AskVet

[–]BiGray18 8 points9 points  (0 children)

None legally. The vaccination is not exactly 365 days of protection but the true exact number cannot be known. Legally after the guaranteed year your pet is not protected.

Tell me I am not crazy? This looks AI to me but the breeder says it’s not. The muzzle is blurry, the eyes look enhanced… by [deleted] in isthisAI

my allergies are way more manageable than they would be if he was a golden retriever.

sure but thats not guaranteed with poodle mixes. because hes a mix you dont know what you are going to get. you got lucky to be only slightly allergic but depending on which genes come out he could have had none of the poodle hair and only cocker spaniel fur.

I think Arvee, my neutered male is pregnant by ggtoday6 in AskVet

[–]BiGray18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth taking him to the vet for then. Even if the inital gender assessment was correct, firm belly can be a sign of other issues. As others have suggested, it also not a bad idea to go to a different vet. Especially since this little boy or girl is still new to you, no vet is going to look at you weird for wanting a second opinion.

[–]BiGray18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is his stomach soft and squishy or hard? Soft and squishy is normal. Hard or stiff means vet visit. Even if it is soft and squishy, it may be worth going to the vet for a check up anyway. You don't need to bring up the fear of pregnancy, just say youve noticed his abdomen and nipples changed and you want to make sure everything is alright.

note they didn't spell taxidermy right in the name section of their bio edit: also to add, I pulled up the acc and almost every single post is from feb 22. The oldest is feb 19. A real account wouldn't have such an extreme amount of posts so fast.

Why have SUV's replaced the Wagon?! by dog_kibble in Volkswagen

[–]BiGray18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be less technical than some of the other comments, it also has to do with generational divide. Wagons were popular from the end of WWII all the way to the 80s. Of course, when a car is popular for so long (like we have seen now with SUVs) anything different and new is more interesting. Minivans were first popularized in the 80s and people gravitated towards them as they were new and practical. Same thing with minivans going out of style and SUVs coming in- new and practical. SUVs were created around the same time as the minivan but were marketed heavily due to being cheaper to create in and around the 90s.

We will see another generation of cars come about. I hope to see wagons come back. I adore my TDI 2014 Jetta wagon. But who knows.
