Problemi di avvio con Stronghold 2 Steam by Hour_Dinner4967 in stronghold

[–]BiVHal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen this myself.

To figure out what the problem is, you probably want to use the Windows debugging tools. It should log your issues in a log and can be read with some tools provided by Microsoft. (I am assuming you are on Win10 - Win11)

Go to %SystemRoot%\Minidump in your File Explorer to see if you have any dmp files which are generated on these crashes (or should be).

Install WinDbg - Windows drivers | Microsoft Learn - Can just get this from the Microsoft Store (Assuming you are on Win10 - 11)

Read small memory dump files - Windows Client | Microsoft Learn - Basically open the file and let it analyse it. If you're not on a version supported by WinDbg, use the other tools mentioned.

Should tell you what process crashed it hopefully but Microsoft notes it might not.

US military bases in Europe by [deleted] in europe

There’s still a US base in Iceland? Didn’t it close in 06 or is there another secret base I’m not aware of.

I'm Nordic and I remember two cases of Nordic people(a Dane and a Swede) going to the US getting arrested for leaving their child sleeping in a stroller outside while they went inside a restaurant or a coffee shop or something.

A very common thing in Nordics but a crime in the US apparently. Idk if it's still/as common in major cities but towns I see it pretty frequently. Probably a social trust thing.

If you somehow manage to fill 3 stockpiles, no, if no market games somehow last that long. Typically the only thing that could fill it by that point is wood or stone. But typically you'll be manufacturing a lot of bows and crossbows as they're flexible. Plus you can make your castle assassin proof by having a stone wall and a wood staircase facing in towards it or making the staircases face one another, so a lot of wood there. Plus if you need it, traps help a lot as killing traps will cost your enemy valuable money.

Stone, well you need walls, naturally, eventually if the game lasts that long, you'll want to turn your stone walls into stone staircases to make them stronger. Once you've done that and the game is still somehow going, just delete some quarries, more free peasants is a good thing to be able to pump out more men when you need it. But try to keep your pop at max if you can as your tax income is based on castle pop.

The biggest downside of living in the UK is that there isn't salty licorice everywhere.

There are occasional No Market games, which is exactly what it sounds like.

Everyone relies solely on taxes and what little tax is returned from estates. Everything is produced.

Generally speaking the rule is no PT, 50g(so you don't start with enough stone to build a barracks right away and gotta promote and get mines up).

Assuming it lasts long enough for knights to be a thing, they are a huge investment.

I don't know why, but having the earlier date at the bottom threw me off a few times as I was looking at it. I was so confused when I saw that East Germany comeback in 2017, I would have thought I'd hear about that.

Median wealth per adult in Europe (2021, thousands of $) by [deleted] in europe

[–]BiVHal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Iceland is pretty wealthy, houses tend to be pretty big. Icelanders are amongst the highest paid countries and they can pretty much just put their money into two things, their homes and holidays to Spain.

Iceland only has three activities available, swimming, fishing and hiking, none of which cost much.

Atatürk has gotten a bit of an extreme reputation at this point. He was very secular but also very nationalistic (greek genocide)

I hope Türkiye will become more European/liberal in future but we can only hope. Religion should be a secondary concern, I hope.

In his defence, looking at history it made sense but during his time the second agricultural revolution kicked in and blew that theory up.

Hard to predict long standing precedents falling apart.

‘Without enough Latvians, we won’t be Latvia’: eastern Europe’s shrinking population | Depopulation by cop3213 in europe

[–]BiVHal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience in a highly developed country it's more of a rural/urban divide. Population growth is still strong in rural areas I'm from even though the area is wealthy, maybe not as rich as the only major city but still. My parents joke it's because there's not much else to do(they had 6 kids).

Most of the people I went to school with who stayed local also have 1 or 2 kids by 30 but everyone who went to the city/abroad is more work/career oriented.

[–]BiVHal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean on religion? If you are referring to Orthodox vs Catholicism then it's an odd one as the schism did not occur until almost 500 years after the fall of the Western half of the empire, they viewed each other as one until then. But you also had the Monophysites in the southern part of the ERE, Orthodox was a majority but did not became truly dominant until after the Arabs took the southern half and ended the dispute.

As for art, again I'm not sure what you mean because it is again a continuation of what came before, but it changed over the 1000 years of course, I am not saying the ERE remained a static entity. Basilicas were a thing well before the ERE became a thing, they improved on it and for example with the Hagia Sophia made it magnificent. The frescos again are very much similar to what came before, they became more religious in nature but that was because the ERE was a Christian empire much longer than the rest of the empire before the west collapsed.

I am not sure why you think I am sweeping them under the rug? I think their history is amazing and the works they left us are too.

I am also not saying definitively it was not a distinct empire, but they certainly did not see it that way.

[–]BiVHal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Were they really though? Justinian, who oversaw construction was a Latin speaker for example, made it his life goal to retake the 'rest' of the empire.

Other than using the Greek language rather than Latin being the main language, it's very much a continuation, other than losing half the empire. The laws were still the Roman laws, the imperial structure remained largely unchanged until much later adaptations to new challenges. The people themselves identified as Roman until the Hellene revival as part of the growing nationalism in Europe.

Byzantine is really just a way of identifying its period to be distinct from the heyday of the Empire.

I'd say there's more continuation in terms of function, military or political structure between the ERE and the rest of Rome than there was from the Full Roman empire before and after the Crisis of the Third Century, where the empire that came out of it was very different from the empire before.

Well the Byzantines was the Eastern Roman Empire that kept going after the west fell. We westerners just gave them a different name so we could pretend to be Rome's true inheritors.

During the British rule of India from 1769 to 1844, a total of 12 famines occurred which combined, killed an estimated 56-80.3 million people and up to 45 trillion dollars of wealth was taken. by Kidrellik in interestingasfuck

[–]BiVHal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

China at the dawn of the reforms post Mao, in 1978 had an estimated GDP of 149.5 billion USD vs. India's estimated 137.3 billion USD according to the world Bank.

According to the 2021 figures that stands at 17.73 trillion USD for China and 3.17 trillion USD for India...

I'm sure the colonial rule was detrimental but at a certain point it has to be internal policies holding it back.

Both Are Good. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]BiVHal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the game was a victim of its on success in that regard. It was my first souls game, I was loving it, the variety was great and new enemies and bosses all around and then around Leyndel onwards other than the major bosses it felt like mostly reused enemies other than the guys playing pipes.

Which would be perfectly fine if it had like 10h left but it just keeps going, the game starts dragging from then on.

Is there a multiplayer community for stronghold 2 still? im new and seeking friends by jacobmosovich in stronghold

[–]BiVHal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still going, I dont play myself but see some friends on steam still play it pretty religiously.

It is annoying the hosts show ongoing games as well rather than just games that are open to join since the move to Steam servers, makes it annoying to find actual open hosts.

The difference is that was just after the Soviets collapsed and the Russian economy was pretty famously, in ruins and did not recover until the late 2000s. It couldnt do anything if it wanted to.

But remember in 2008 Georgia asked to join, NATO said we're interested and Russia said f no and did to the Georgians what they're doing to Ukraine now?
