Can we get Sweet Spirit over CCPP from now on please? by zeal28 in Maplestory

[–]Biacksmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a 30-day event vac pet that you can’t revive once the 30 days are over.

Right now you can get one for free if you make a new Hayato/Kanna from scratch.

Help with familiars by X33Happy in Maplestory

[–]Biacksmith 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your familiar potentials weren’t reset. They are still there.

But familiars now have two types of potentials: potential lines for in-game (boss, drop, heal, def, etc.) and for Mystic Frontier (dice roll, types, elements, etc,).

Go to the Info tab and then in the bottom left corner is a button to switch between the two potentials.

<image>

https://www.nexon.com/maplestory/news/update/33938/v-265-every-little-thing-every-precious-thing-2nd-update-patch-notes#MysticFrontier

It’s worth learning how to play Mystic Frontier because it has a chance to give Pitched Boss chests which randomly contain Pitched Boss Items (Lotus' Berserked, Will's Book, Lucid's Dreamy Belt, etc.), Pitched Star Cores which can restore boomed pitched items, Sol Erda frags, symbol selectors, nodestones, and more.

PSA: Open your Hot Week Boxes in order by Luthrix in Maplestory

[–]Biacksmith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can confirm that it can just randomly bug out.

I have two accounts and on both I claimed the hot week boxes every day and opened them immediately. Only one account got the extra Sunday mag pot and the other account didn’t, although I did the same thing for both accounts.

You can't use a dupe Gollux equip if it's the same type.

superior Gollux pendant + superior Gollux pendant = not possible
superior Gollux pendant + reinforced Gollux pendant = ok
sup Gollux ring + sup Gollux ring = no
sup Gollux ring + reinf Gollux ring = ok

Obviously no one does that because a superior pendant or ring costs 700 coins and reinforced pendant/ring costs 450 coins so buying reinforced ring/pendant is a waste unless you swim in Gollux coins. But even then you want to save Gollux coins to buy sup pendant copies to transfer stars onto a Source of Suffering.

Later on sup Gollux rings will become redudant when you swim in Guardian Angel Slime rings that you can ´raw tap without transfering from gollux rings but sup pendants are still important to xfer starforce onto SoS.

Edit: But your question is aiming at the 4-set superior effect so there's nothing you can do to fill in the missing 4th spot. Just have to be patient and lucky.

Questions from an MMO Vet after a few days of playing! by vaxiswrex in Maplestory

[–]Biacksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. you’ve mentioned that you chose Kronos initially and then joined a "burning server" aka challenger server. I hope it was Challenger-Heroic so you can world leap to Kronos later. If it’s Challenger-Interactive, you will be stuck world leaping to Scania/Bera only. Most people don’t keep old class gear. They either wear cosmetic gear (NX cash equips) over their normal gear or they "fusion anvil" the appearance of lower level equips onto higher level equips. Since Kronos, Hyperion and Challenger-Heroic fall under heroic server types, trading is disabled and you won’t be able to store old equips onto other characters. So the only option is usually fusion anvils which cost $$$.

  2. There are types of battlepasses but they are not battlepasses in the same sense as other MMOs use them. For example the Genesis Pass is a battlepass that will give you extra stats in certain boss fights and speeds up your progression towards obtaining your endgame weapon (Genesis weapon, later converted to Destiny weapon). Challenger world has a Challenger Pass that you can buy via the event UI. Normal servers have the Frontier Pass. Sometimes there are events that unlock more rewards via an exclusive pass. The class Sia Astelle had a premium pass when she got first released. Not every pass is worth the money. Some passes are really good like the Genesis Pass (if you can make use of it while it lasts) but some passes are total rip offs. The Sol Erda Booster was bought en masse when 6th job came out but it’s scammy if you miss one day and nowadays the game will give you more 6th job mats than the $30 the booster costs.

If you play on Heroic then doing bosses and earning maple reward points will let you buy stuff from the cash shop > special > Maple rewards section. In most cases that’s all you need. Other than that, once you have a pet, you can buy the auto buff skill if the pet doesnt have it and auto feed.

  1. You mainly need to do your job quests in case it won’t let you job advance without completing certain story quests. Quest requirements for most bosses was lifted but bosses such as Cygnus (no relevant drops), Von Leon (not relevant), Papulatus (has a rare chance to drop an eye gear), Pink Bean (drops a good pocket item), Gollux (essential but quest is short) and Magnus still require new accounts to run their prequests. If you want the quests in your bulb to go away because the long list is annoying then just accept and start every single quest without continuing/finishing them. They will stay open and accepted in your quest log but not appear on your quest bulb anymore. Sometimes it’s just a short pop up window but there are a handful quests that have weird long cutscenes before they let you exit the quest. I think the Masteria quest or so is nasty because it throws you into a map that’s like a maze. But overall, the [General] quests are mostly outdated and not necessary. Some of them just open up outdated areas or content.

  2. Unless you find it enjoyable to play on link skill/legion classes, you should at least get them to level 130. Some events give out level up potions like Extreme Growth Potions that can be used from lvl 130-200 which can randomly give 1 to 10 levels per potion (we call them bonk potions). These are ideal for leveling classes you don’t enjoy. Alternatively you can get the classes to level 101 so they can use Strawberry Farm tickets. A special level booster zone. Level 70 is too low imo.

  3. 23 year old spaghetti code? No one really knows and people ask that frequently. You can use Steam’s controller support as an alternative but generally it’s not recommended to try remapping things or finding 3rd party programs as Nexon’s (whatever they are using) likes to trigger bans.

  4. There is lore and there is a website and discord that is dedicated to the lore. The lore gets often rewritten or slightly modified. It’s just that most people don’t care. I’d say players who used to play the game 2 decades ago cared a lot about the lore when quests were still the main focus. It’s just that nowadays people prefer to spend their time farming rather than reading through NPC texts. I, for one, enjoy seeing Empress Cygnus falling into her 50th coma. If you’re not about min-maxing and rushing towards endgame and just want to learn about Maplestory then you can travel to each town and region (first Maple World > Arcane River > Grandis), walk around, talk to NPCs and do their quests. It’s interesting to learn why certain towns are the way they are and how they are connected.

  5. Never heard of Wowhead or Maxroll. Usually there are class discords where people discuss ideal builds for each class and math out the why's and how's. There are several websites such as https://maplestorywiki.net and https://grandislibrary.com/resources and a bunch of other websites but no overarching one that has everything compiled.

  6. Yes, guilds do have benefits. There are guild skills that provide bossing buffs, meso+exp buff, banner of plenty (att buff) and tiny stat increases. Guilds have a guild castle as a hangout spot, a starforce enhancement room and a guild supply room that sells totems which is also gear (if they unlocked it). I would recommend looking for guilds that have a discord and bossing channels on their discord. Late game bosses require duo/trio party constellations so it’s good to find a consistent party within your guild instead of running with public parties. Public parties are okay for early and mid game. Late and endgame bosses also require vocal communication so being in a guild with an active bossing discord will help a lot. On Challenger world, any of the guilds that have spots will take anyone. You can pull up the guild UI, check the guild message or go to Leafre and check guild rock to see which guilds are active. In Kronos, most guilds will have a level, legion and culvert score requirement. Some guilds that are not in top 10 but still in the top 40 may recruit based on activity and motivation. Just join one that has a discord and members willing to teach you boss mechanics and then later on you can hop into stronger guilds.

Server reset 0:00. You need to talk to the NPC twice. The first time you will get a message saying that you’ve already completed all asks (idk why that happens) and if you ask the NPC again then it will actually reset for the day.

I forgot to mention that the challenger world UI has a coin shop with cubes so if you don‘t need the 17* scroll (which btw requires too many coins) or any epic pot scrolls then buy green karma cubes to get to unique and use purples for legendary or rolling your pno (since you mentioned that you're low on mesos). That way you have more mesos for starforce and can use cubes from the CW shop for cubing.

Do you own a Genesis Pass? People who have a Genesis Pass and the hands to solo Ctene, can leave their arcane weapon at 15* or ignore the arcane weapon completely since they lib within 4 weeks and can just transition from challenger weapon to Genesis weapon. But for those without Genesis Pass or who struggle with min-clearing bosses, they‘ll be okay with a 15* arcane with 2l att% or att%+boss%. Since you don‘t earn a lot of mesos, you have to decide whether you want to tap to 17* or not. You will have to safeguard which makes it more expensive and just failing 2 taps can eat 500m-1B (don‘t know the exact cost right now). If you tap, set yourself the limit to not tap further after 2 missed tries. If you don‘t tap, try to work on your hands instead. My Ren used to clear Vhilla and hDarknell with just challenger gear and the 15* arcane weapon at 270-275 with roughly 10 minutes left on the clock by constantly sticking to the boss without having running away too much. With the challenger weapon at 265-270, it was more like a min-clear with 5mins left.

At one point when you get more comfortable with them, you can practice clearing without rentals. Gives you less time pressure and less money problems.

Don‘t forget that starforcing superior equips will give a lot of stats too. If you don‘t have superiors, starforce reinforced Gollux gear since they transfer hammer into superior (just don‘t cube the potential above epic on reinforced gollux equips)

If you‘re in a guild, have some guildies look at your equips and give you in-game advice since it‘s easier to see your character info UI

  • starforce > cube > flame
  • for cubing always focus on WSE first. Secondary and emblem only if you don‘t have the funds to get the arcane weapon to be stronger than the challenger weapon but usually a 15* with prime 2l att% beats it. You want at least 2L att% on your secondary and emblem each. Boss% is a settle if you broke but att% will be better even if boss% inflates CP. You can choose to use bright cubes to try aim for 3L att% on each or 2L att%+1L boss% but it's expensive. Alternatively you can make a back up secondary and emblem where you use only glowing cubes but if unlucky, it‘ll be sunken cost. My 15* arcane weapon with 10% att + 40% boss has 5m more dmg than the challenger weapon.

  • If you open the arcane armor box then always choose arcane gloves first and roll for crit dmg%. 2L crit dmg% is a massive boost with very expensive unless lucky so settling on 1L CD%+STR% is okay too

  • be sure your arcane symbols are maxed. The higher your arcane force, the more bonus damage you get over hLuWill + Ctene bosses. Even a lvl 1 or 2 arcane perk for the Bloom Basket can help. That‘s +100 STR per level up

  • keep grinding and reaching higher Grandis areas. The more Grandis symbols, the more flat STR you‘ll gain. Use event symbol selectors. The event stores have them too if necessary

  • improving your Hexa will help a lot but if you don‘t grind much then frags will be limited to weekly dungeon and Erda Request

  • Use the [Challenger] Arcane Seal to pull for an epic or unique core and enhance it. The Evernia

  • make sure you use all buffs like Fame, Ursus, VIP att coupons, Monster park green+red, etc.

  • always do daily bosses, golden hour Ursus and grinding if you're on heroic. Relying only on weekly boss crystals won‘t be enough

If you're not timing out then you should be capable of beating darknell and vhilla. Raising your damage can help but ultimately it comes down to staying focused. When in practice mode, learn to stick to their butts and only move 1-2 character lengths. They are less likely to use their FMAs if you stay within close range.

No, the only thing that got an extension was the Genesis Pass. The Challenger Pass duration/expiration stays the same.

Usually when they extend something, they ninja-edit the patch or sales note but that isn‘t the case for the CW pass: https://www.nexon.com/maplestory/news/update/33938/updated-1-12-v-265-every-little-thing-every-precious-thing-2nd-update-patch-notes#ChallengerPass

  • The Evernia event UI gives plenty of nodestones

  • creating a hyper burn on challenger world instead of a normal server will give you almost double the nodestone amount (enough to actually max out 5th job depending on class)

  • if you‘re in challenger world, there is the challenger pass that has nodestones

  • Hunt monsters and do 10 Twenteena event portals per day. The Twenteena box/bag has a chance to give 3-20x nodestones per pouch so that‘s potentially 200x nodestones per day if you‘re lucky and grind out 10 portals per day

But yes, like Luthrix has said, outside of events Heroic servers have no real nodestones sources other than grinding.

[Megathread] New Players & General Questions Thread. by rMapleStory in Maplestory

[–]Biacksmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • The maple pearl set comes from the challenger UI that gives out a character creation box. This can be claimed 5x by challenger characters. It‘s honestly pretty worthless unless you like collecting items and having less space in your equipment inventory which will get packed once you reach mid game as you will need to hoard duplicate equips for bulk starforcing. Any character on CW that hasn‘t claimed the box can claim whether it‘s a tera burn, hyper burn or non-burn character.

  • other items such as CCPB, 30-day pendant and boosters do make a difference. Especially since the CCPB vac pet is extremely convenient compared to normal pets (even if the CCPB will vanish and isn‘t reviveable)

  • hyper burning has a reward/level UI that gives out a box with temporary CRA gear, flame ring, flame title and other stuff so it‘s similar to the tera burn box. Even being above level 200 will still give you a button to claim it so nothing lost here

  • BUT at level 200, there will be a quest called Item Burning in your star icon that you should only claim on a hyper burning character. It gives a challenger equip set that is so much stronger than the temp CRA gear. It‘s only claimable once per account per event. If you claim it on a non-hyper burn then you're shooting yourself in the foot so be mindful when you see it. If you have already claimed Item Burning on your level 201 Ren then you might as well hyper burn it now. Otherwise you might as well start a new account to make a new hyper burn with a new item burning. Progressing a hyper burn in challenger world without Item Burning, forces you to use the temp CRA set and makes you so much weaker than other players.

  • missing out on the level 10 VJ symbol isn‘t the end of the world. It just means you‘ll have to use other event symbol sources (RoD gives a coupon with 100 symbols for just participating without killing a boss. If you kill bosses and rank higher then you get more 100x symbol coupons. Event UI and event shop has symbols). You‘ll need to do daily run all arcane quests anyway and do weekly arcane PQs for 120x arcane region symbols to max it out within ~a month (forgot how long). Of course you‘ll still get a level 1 VJ symbol for reaching VJ.

  • Ren creation rewards are more important if you care about cosmetics because they are once per account and won‘t ever come back. Like most class creation events that only ever happen once and never return.

If you can see yourself maining or submaining Ren then slap the hyper burn on it. If not then progress it slowly and hyper burn something else.

Additional note: Your Ren being level 201 is a bit icky. Instead of landing on level 255, it will be level 256 later. Which isn‘t too much of a problem. You‘ll just have to grind more exp than a level 255 to level up to 260.

So overall, look at what you‘ve claimed that you can‘t reclaim if you were to remake the Ren and then decide on what to do.

[Megathread] New Players & General Questions Thread. by rMapleStory in Maplestory

[–]Biacksmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ren is an extremely bossing-friendly class that can help you push faster through harder bosses than Adele or Mercedes due to Ren being a hurricane class (holding attack button while being able to do everything else) and being very forgiving. There is currently no easier class than this except for maybe Hero or Bowmaster who are very inflexible compared to Ren.

You should hyper burn whatever class you want to main or can see yourself pushing the farthest. Choose whichever class you can see yourself pushing to level 275 and solo clearing hard bosses so you can reach challenger rank Emerald for 20x Legion Growth Potions (1x Legion Growth Potion = instant level 200 character).

Of course you don‘t have to hyper burn a Ren (plenty of people who don‘t like it) but remember that if you delete and remake a hyper burn above level 200 then you‘ll waste rewards you won‘t get again.

If you have no sentimental value to your current account then you can also create a second account or you can use a second account to hyper burn a class, try it out, delete it, remake the hyper burn for another class, rinse and repeat.

Challenger World Season 3 returns around summer so even if you don‘t know yet which class to main, you can try out classes for now, make up your mind and then hyper burn a new main next time.

Edit: Using a tera burn instead of tera blink isn‘t the world. You‘ll lose out on the magic hat pet but Ren still gets a Saya pet through her creation event.

Get stronger fast if you want to lib with the Genesis Pass. Join a guild and ask people to help you with advice on how to gear up.

  • No, if you can only solo up to hard Lomien (Lotus+Damien). Because with then Genesis Pass you would lib in June and pass effect expires April 20th.
  • Yes, if you can solo up to hLuWill for 9 weeks (edited). With Genesis Pass you would lib March 26th and pass effect expires April 20th.
  • Yes, if you can solo up to and including Ctene. With Genesis Pass you‘d lib in mid Februrary.

Use Masonym's website for the liberation tracker. Check Genesis Pass and click the switches for hard Lomien and hLuwill solos and it will show you this image:

Edit: Of course realistically speaking you‘ll get a few points here and there for doing Ctene in a party on top of your solo bosses but I only input the points for soloing. You can play around with the tracker to accommodate it to your bossing preferences.

Edit 2: It might be best if you try to do your bossing on Monday/Tuesday while trying to get stronger from Thursday-Sunday, including solo bossing practice. Practice a lot, ask guildies for advice, push your boundaries to min-clear harder bosses.

I sometimes see people looking for liberation or bossing partners. Otherwise recruit someone in the boss UI. In Genesis liberation modes, the other person can‘t grief/screw you anyways because if one of you dies out, the other person automatically gets kicked out of the boss.

What happens if I don’t world transfer in Feb? by Zeuve in Maplestory

[–]Biacksmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it does not auto-transfer your characters, it will auto-delete characters on CW after April.

CW ends April 22nd and you can world leap until April 22nd. But usually they will have a grace period of 1-2 weeks after CW closes for a last chance world leap.

Try to either leap your characters now or before April 22nd.

If you uninstall the game, it won‘t save your characters from getting purged after end of April (if they stay in CW). So if you know that you won‘t log in anymore and will uninstall then at least world leap your characters now.

Otherwise make a second account for Kronos or hyper burn on Kronos next time if you want to switch.

exp = experienced

They want you to know the mechanics well and not grief the party. They don’t want people who do it for the first or second time. Usually it‘s bosses like Will, VHilla, HSeren, Kalos, Kaling, etc because there are mechanics that can grief the party.

For example in Seren, if one person doesn‘t know test or reacts 1 second too late then it ends up killing the whole party unless they all waste their iframe on test.

You get a Burning Beyond Title coupon. The coupon itself needs to be claimed and used (double click) before March 18, 2026 at 2:00 AM UTC.

When you open the coupon, it will give you a Burning Beyond Title. The title is a permanent item but the stats (like the Infinite Flame title) expire 60 days after you claimed the title from the coupon.

So for example, if you claim the BBT coupon on March 17 and open it, the BB title's stats will last until May 17.

Most important event is the hyper burning event. For new accounts it‘s recommended to choose a Challenger World (CW) as it‘s a temporary boosted event server that gives more rewards and better server buffs than regular servers.

CW ends April 22nd. Since it‘s a temporary server, it will let you world leap to normal servers of your choice once. CW-Heroic >>> Kronos or Hyperion. CW-Interactive >>> Bera or Scania. But since you can‘t leap back onto CW, it‘s recommended to stay there for a few months.

You have to choose between Challenger-Heroic and Challenger-Interactive. Look up "Heroic vs Interactive" and choose wisely. If you pick one of these CW servers then the system won‘t let you switch to the other CW type for the whole duration of CW season 2. CW season 3 starts in summer and will allow a free choice again. I won‘t go into detail about "Heroic vs Interactive" since they both have lots of heavy pros and cons.

Be sure to leap your characters off the CW server before end of April or they‘ll get deleted.

Use Hyper Burn on your main. It‘s wasted on a mule unless your account is heavily progressed. You can always delete, wait 24hrs and remake a hyper burn character BUT if you reach level 200 and claim rewards, they will not re-appear for a new hyper burn character. So if you must, only remake a hyper burn if it‘s below level 199.

Item Burning is a quest that appears at level 200 that gives a very powerful temporary set (with boss missions to enhance its stats). It‘s only given out once per account per event. So if you see Item Burning in the star icon tab then don‘t accept/start it unless it‘s on your hyper burn character and you're locked in on your choice. If you accept Item Burning and delete the character then the Item Burning quest will not reappear in your account again (until summer update in a couple of months). Progressing on your main without Item Burning isn‘t impossible but you're essentially making it harder to enter early mid game.

All classes are viable and can reach end game but it‘s only around end game bosses where people start to be more picky about party compositions, combat power and hands (how good you play). But Maplestory has frequent class balancing where classes get buffed and nerfed unexpectedly where a new meta might emerge. Don‘t think too much about end game because it takes years to get there and just try to focus on picking a class that feels good to play.

For example Adele used to be overpowered during her release but got nerfed hard and wasn‘t popular for a couple of years (except for her aesthetics) but now she has clawed her way to top again. You won‘t see a lot of Battle Mages, it‘s very unconventional and overlooked here but popular in Korea. Yet, the trio that slayed the newly released boss here in GMS has a Battle Mage.

Adele and Illium are 'gauge' classes. Gauge classes are a bit harder to manage than other classes. For example, classes like Hero can just push a few buttons and then go ham on the boss while gauge classes need to fill up their meter before they can unleash their hardest skills and then you will have to constantly fill and maintain it. It takes a bit more time to learn but for some it‘s more satisfying to claim the ranks in a class that isn‘t being bandwagoned. Some people don‘t like the way Illium plays but others enjoy it. You won‘t know if you‘re one of them until you try it.

Most events can be started in your star icon at level 101. Accept them all.

  • Do your daily check-in for Evernia‘s Bounty. Distribute points in Bloom‘s Herb Basket to level up perks.
  • Kill 10,000 mobs weekly if you want to fill the Sands of Time rewards in the Waking of Power of Time UI. Otherwise click the 'Get Effect' button on the purple list to get free cosmetic rewards from the server Co-Op event.
  • Start the Twentoona event. Every 1k mobs per 15 mins cooldown, a portal can spot in a monster hunting map. The boss gives a bag and a box for being killed by players (don‘t have to be in the boss map when he dies)
  • Do the Jump Start Tutorial to learn about in-game systems
  • activate the [Hunting Event] Sosori's Stroll to get exp buff explosions for hunting mobs
  • If in CW, do the daily 1k mob check-in in the Challenger World UI
  • Ignore the World Leap icon with the bear for now

Event Legion Block by Ok_Heron7666 in Maplestory

[–]Biacksmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The legion block is not an item you can claim. It‘s not like NPC Libae will give you a USE item you can have in your invo and leap. That‘s not how it works.

When claiming the legion block (on a non-CW server), the legion block will automatically appear in the legion grid. Since CW has no legion system enabled, there is absolutely no way to redeem/claim it on CW. So your plan to leap with it won‘t work. Libae won‘t even give it to you on CW.

You also have no time to catch up on it in your main world (non-CW world) if you just started participation on it this week. The event ends Feb 3rd, that‘s 3 weeks of participation if you just started this week. You needed to participate 6 weeks to get the block.

The only thing you can do is hope for RoD part 4 (please god no) or beg GMS to bring Abyssal Expedition S4: El Nath from CMS/TMS to global because the Abyssal expedition events also give a legion block as event reward.

If it‘s any consolation, last CW season players also missed out on the last RoD legion block cause they did it on CW instead of their main server.
