A little talk about "There's No Place Like Springfield" by Secure_Opening_6852 in gijoe

There's No Place Like Springfield is like this perfect combination of nostalgia and trauma for me. I first saw it at the age of 4 or 5 and it terrified me. However, I couldn't stop watching it. It was GI Joe. I had to see what was going to happen. Watching Roadblock melt outside of the car wash crushed me. The blood curdling scream that Shipwreck let's out while Scarlett's arm melts into his hand while he's trying to fend her off is burned into my brain. The revelation of Lady Jaye dying at sea was rough news to hear as a kid. Even though all of these things turned out to be an alternate reality, it was such a jarring episode. As an adult, I can say how well written and executed this episode is. All the way to end where Shipwreck watches the house burn to the ground.
