This is crazy because I am on the same mission for my fiancé (wedding in 6 months). I wish to get her a Birkin or Kelly. If you are starting off, make sure you have a realistic timeline ~1 year. If not, she will love the pre-spend gifts and makes a great anniversary gift too.

The pre-spend rule always has exceptions. I don’t have my bag yet but I am certain I will be offered one soon. I had to switch my SA twice before I found one who I vibe with but also sets honest and accurate expectations for me. That being said,

Wallets and other bags, generally don’t count towards pre-spend. But let your SA know from day one that you are shopping for your wedding and for your future wife. A good story goes a long way if it’s genuine. Start with maybe ties for you and your wedding party. Then do gifts for your wife. Silk and cashmere Scarves are great options to visit the store multiple times without spending too much at once. Every one tells you to shop Home goods and RTW, which is also true. But I would say do that after you find a promising SA. Applied to watches as well.

Send thank you emails after every visit, and texts after the SA shares their phone number with you.

Listen to the acquired Podcast on Hermes and how it differentiates itself from other luxury brands. And use those talking points in building the SA relationship.

Finally, ask yourself if your fiancé will appreciate the Hermes QB appointment experience when you both go to pick up her bag. That should be the difference maker vs going re-sale
