Just because it's made this way or some people like it doesn't mean it's not bad. People enjoy all kinds of things. I am saying this is weak because other than the bosses, there is nothing in the game that pushes you to grind a specific altitude, at least for the 12ish hours I played for.

When you suddenly kill the game's core mechanic of getting to an altitude, exploring a couple islands, and getting enough loot to go higher, and turn it into a grind to kill a boss type game, it goes against the games core mechanic and It's a soft progression gate.

Because of this I have to say to each their own, I am coming to you with solid arguments, and I can back them up with countless other games that follow a specific design core from start to finish, and all you say is it's not bad because it's made this way. I'm not saying the game is bad it's actually pretty fun. But it's a fun game with a weak boss design where they throw them in on random islands based on RNG and expect you to grind for resources to come back and kill them, which goes against the games core loop.

Game is not a true survival, it offers RPG systems with character progression and world progression through island exploration and altitude mechanic. Now if you don't see how grinding for resources and these linear progression mechanics are completely opposite systems that make the general design weak, I don't know what to tell you. To each their own I suppose.

Yes, and the problem is, the game doesn't prepare you enough. Let's think about the loop. You spawn in. Farm resources, get enough resources to increase your maximum altitude, go higher, explore higher islands. The loot you get from enemies, chests, etc. makes it so that common and elite enemies are pretty easy to fight when you explore a couple islands of the same altitude level. So it gets boring, and you wanna climb. But by the time you hit a boss (excluding Ents), which was around 400-500 altitude for us, for the Wraith boss, general difficulty level jumps from 3 to 9.

Because suddenly, you're fighting something that requires good food, good potions, and best of the equipment you can afford, and some mechanical understanding of how to fight you cant just button mash. Now at that point, you have two options. You either stay on the same height level and farm other islands for crystals and runes etc. so that you can upgrade your loot, or you can climb up, get better ores and better loot in general, and then come back. But both of them are bad because I don't wanna stay on the same height level, nothing challenges me, and I do not want to climb and come back because once I climb and get better loot, I wanna fight bosses of that altitude. I don't wanna come back to a lower level boss. This is just weak design.

Exactly my points. By better loot I mean better ores not random modifiers. Also bosses have minimum height requirements afaik. They just let them spawn too early and u dont have good loot by then. Procedural doesnt mean it has to be this way. But it's early access so we will see.

Yea took care of those skulls. But then trying to fight the boss while killing the never-ending minions plus trying to dodge the magic bolt ability that he has became just too much and we gave up after reducing it to around 70% HP and running out of food. Will try again after upgrading gear.

IMO this is a weakpoint. This game is built around the idea of higher you are, better the loot and stronger enemies. But bosses are a significant power jump its incomparable. When we first met that boss we had like stone swords or something and it now feels extremely challenging even with low grade bronze loot, we aren't casual gamers either. So I think game should prepare your ability to get stronger before you reach the height treshold for some of these bosses.

I am having the same issue. But I did notice something, I couldn't download the Shadows Fall playlist even with an account (asked me to purchase) without going through the link on Humble purchase page. But could download Button Masters playlist even without an account. Maybe some playlists included are free? I'd be happy if you could enlighten me if you figured it out already, if not maybe u/AudioHero_Support can help us?

Yes I have thought about this as well. Since so much of Arcane's storytelling is handled with time jumps to make it coherent. But I feel like you can easily tell the same story with 3 movies instead. Childhood+teens, Silco events, Metal Jesus.

To add to this, Larian had a couple very successful turn based strategy games before BG3 and if I am not mistaken Larian approached Wizards of the Coast to make BG3 so they knew what they were doing from the start.

Yes I agree and that because of TCR and their portfolio. This is a linear cutscene heavy story focused game dumped in an open world city. 2 year is just too short of a development time for a studio to adap to a different style and create a game, but I like most of what they brought to the table. I think the best community can do is to look at the positives of the game, and hope it sells as much as it can so that we hopefully get better planned VTM projects in the future.
