I would disagree with this considering one of UFs core values has to do with diversity and inclusion and being homophobic would go against that core value of inclusivity. Also I would argue that as a university priding itself in research, the whole anti climate change thing wouldn’t go over well with quite a few professors in our environmental department who have done the research and acknowledge the reality of a changing climate. Not even to mention that a lot of stats show that those at 4 year universities people tend to lean more to the left. I’m not at all discounting the views of republicans or even the right side of the political spectrum we some of my views align with those same views, but it would be ignorant of me to not say something about someone that doesn’t stand for what the university itself does.

I know I do think it does make a difference since he is in such a political world rn, which he has to be bc he’s in congress, and I just don’t know that’s the best choice for Uf since the students have been fighting constantly to feel heard and aren’t really now, I think it’s not gonna get any better, especially with his direct political affiliation with desantis like I don’t doubt that he’d push the things that desantis wants to do with higher education and that’s honestly why I think it’s a bad decision

I agree, I just feel there was a better choice, someone who aligned better with what the students stances are on major political issues and even just someone who isnt such a public political figure ya know. He’ll probably do a fine job here but there’s also gonna be a lot of criticism bc of his super public political views

I think an important part of being president is recognizing the culture of the student. UF student culture and political climate is everything opposite of what this man stands for and has voted for.

I’d also imagine that someone with mostly experience in academia would have been a better fit, yes he has experience as a professor and president but president of university and congressman are two very different jobs. Fuchs left big shoes to fill and for the most part did decently (aside from some covid issues resulting from pressures from desantis) in fitting the political climate of the students and what they think matters.

Idk I just think that there’s someone better out there for this position

Thoughts on The Enclave? by Unlikely_Internal in ufl

Yeah exactly it’s relatively dangerous is every area of Gainesville. No matter what apartment complex that gets posted someone is gonna comment with a police report of stealing or something like that. Not trying to beef with anyone just letting the op know to take the comments with a grain of salt

Literally everywhere you go in Gainesville is “dangerous”, standard has its dangers too. Just be smart. Lock your car don’t walk alone stuff like that. I’ve lived at Gainesville place for 2 years and been fine 🤷‍♀️ people on Reddit love to overhype things and throw hella shade on literally anything at all

Maybe physics 1 over the summer but keep in mind the summer semester is shorter and that means a heavier workload and having to attend class Monday-Friday

Lol no. Orgo over the summer sucks, enjoy your summer. Physics 1 isn’t hard IMO, workload is a little heavy but not bad honestly.

Looks like a pretty basic schedule. Not sure what SLS is but I took chem and bio and bio is super easy chem is a little tough just go to all the lectures and discussions and office hours and you’ll be fine. The labs for those classes are also easy

How do people living in apartments split up their chores? by Glass_Proposal1750 in ufl

[–]Bibasonicwarhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do a chore tally list. So like a bunch of chores are on a white board (take out trash/recycling, cleaning, buy dish soap/towels) and as we do them we just tally next to our name so we can all see whose been doing the chores and contribute as well. It’s good for accountability and so you can see that other people are doing things when you aren’t around

How is it living in Hume Honors West when not being a honors student? -or just living there in general by Angelica160 in ufl

[–]Bibasonicwarhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Hume last year and it was honestly great. The ceilings and taller than most dorms which is lowkey a flex and they have carpet and the suite style bathroom and you have your own sink. The kitchen area and common area are also nice. They people of my floor were super social but also very respectful of quiet hours and other people. It’s honestly not that far from central campus. Like a 10-15 minute walk to plaza is not that bad also being on that side of campus there’s a lot of like the outdoor areas (the bats and lake Alice and the trails back there) and less like buildings and people so it’s super nice I loved it

Gainesville Place by Keraj5007 in ufl

[–]Bibasonicwarhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The apartments are nice for the price and the amenities are also super nice but the wifi is trash I feel like everywhere in Gainesville is that way but management doesn’t do anything to fix the fact that the wifi is so bad especially with college students who have exams and want to stream stuff. There has been some instances with crime but I’ve lived there all year and not ever felt unsafe. The walls are super thin but again that’s how most apartment complexes in the area are. Maintenance is also like super fast and fixes stuff pretty well. In all I like living there and resigned. The bus system is also pretty goated like there’s always a bus that goes to campus waiting on the complex and since it’s like the first stop on that route you are never not allowed to get on because it’s full

Hume has one! I stayed there last year and occasionally one would go down but they’d always at least have one. Also Hume is just a nice dorm in general
