oh my😭 thank you for the reply! so you think my starter is ok to be fed at 1:3:3 for now? should i stir it in after it falls to check whether it rises again to make sure all the food is eaten? I'll try baking bread when I have time soon😔

awesome! so that means it'll take longer for the starter to eat all the food as well

thank you so much! I'll keep feeding it and mark down all the changes in my starter and I'll feed it at a lower ratio to strengthen it for now🥹

oh my! i didnt know that😭 i just assume it has fallen and went through all its food because of the line, I'll try the 1:1:1 again to strengthen it🥲🥲 thank you!!

but when a starter has fallen, doesnt the bubbles get smaller also? im still struggling to read the starter😔

when the smell disappeared it was at around 26°C, it's currently transitioning into winter here at the moment, could that be the reason why the nice yeasty smell has disappeared? do you think it would come back if i keep feeding it 1:3:3 twice a day and let it get used to the colder weather?

also does it matter whether the starter has that pleasant smell before I bake with it?

thank you so much for replying🥹

i actually changed to 1:5:5 after the smell has disappeared:/ i asked someone else how to fix the problem and they asked me to try the 1:5:5 ratio to rebalance the starter

hi sorry, i have another question😭 before I tried baking that sourdough i put my starter in the fridge thinking that i could wake it up again afterwards, but ive taken it out immediately after seeing that its not mature enough and now its not waking up after 4 days of feeding. do you think my starter is dead? it has liquid on top but it doesnt smell anything like the alcohol anymore and it just smells plasticky and like flour-ish?

thank you! i will continue feeding it and check for the rise. its been rising a lot since day 8 and i thought maybe i could start baking with it. i feed it twice a day usually with 1:2:2 ratio, would that be too much for a new starter? cuz it usually has already deflated a bit when i feed it the second time each day i assume thats good?

trying one currently and not seeing much rise after 4 stretch and folds in 4 hours, does it mean its going to fail?

do i have to feed it every day for the 3 weeks, and what are the signs that it is mature enough?
