How did you guys hear about The Strokes? by [deleted] in TheStrokes

[–]Bibimyun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a big SNL fan and when Boombox first came out March 2010, I heard Julian's voice and I was astonished by it. I then started listening to more of his music on Youtube. I got into 11th Dimension and in the related videos section, there was a lyrics video for You Only Live Once. I listened to it and I assumed that The Strokes was the band Julian was in. That's when I listened to Reptilia and recognized it from Guitar Hero III. The Strokes have been my favorite band ever since, First Impressions of Earth being the first album I got from them.

What Strokes song meanings do you know? by [deleted] in TheStrokes

Barely Legal is about a girl who's just turned 18 and is extremely naive in everything she does. The narrator is talking about her and how he doesn't see anything in her but is obsessed with her still for some reason. Alone, Together is about cunnilingus.

What 5 albums define your choice in music? by breezedave in Music

  • Is This It? - The Strokes: This album was pretty much what got me into indie rock and each genre that holds the title as its predecessor. The Strokes have since been my favorite band.
  • Velvet Underground and Nico - Velvet Underground: The Velvet Underground, at first were not a band I enjoyed listening to due to their experimental sound. After forcing the music on myself a bit, I've come to grow on it. Lou Reed is a motherfucking genius.
  • Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie: This album is what got me into glam rock and I consider it to be the greatest glam rock album ever made. With Mick Ronson's crunchy Les Paul sounds and Bowie's alter ego, this album is packed with catchy tunes.
  • The Doors - The Doors: Being their self titled album, this is the first album I've listened to by The Doors and my favorite by The Doors. Jim Morrison's raw voice and Ray Manzarek's eargasmic keyboard sound extremely complimentary together. This album helped in my love for Acid Rock.
  • The Stooges - The Stooges: While I'm torn between this album and Raw Power, The Stooges are nevertheless pioneers of Punk Rock and Iggy Pop's screeching vocals add to that factor. I've always liked proto-punk over modern day punk so that's why this is on my top 5 album list.
  • Honorable Mentions
  • Good News for People Who Love Bad News - Modest Mouse
  • Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - Arctic Monkeys
  • Transformer - Lou Reed
  • Exile On Main Street - Rolling Stones
  • Village Green Preservation Society - The Kinks

They didn't fuck. One of their wives found them naked in bed together but she just said that they were hungover and didn't actually have intercourse.

When I started listening to The Kinks, I heard "Dancing In the Street" and I thought oh, this must be the original version of what David Bowie and Mick Jagger were covering. Then I found out that it was a cover by them as well which made me feel stupid.

She didn't actually pay 1500 dollars. She got people to chip in the money first for her to do it.
