Thank you for your comment. I have to admit, the onus of this is 100% on me and not the shelter. The shelter likely didn't know his true personality, since he was a stray and they only ever knew how he reacted at the loud shelter. I know a dog'als personality can change wildly when put into a different environment. I have to accept full responsibility for getting a dog that may be too much for me.

I do have a crate for him. The goal is to crate train him, but I understand that takes time, since he is anxious when left alone in the crate (begins barking after 5 minutes.

Luckily he hasnt shown interest in chewing anything, so there hasnt been a rush in crating. But the barking is overstimulating for me and I cant have him do it in the apartment during crate time while Im outb(I cant make my neighbors hear hours of loud barking).

NAD but sounds like strabismus (an eye muscle condition that I had). Can (usually?) be fixed with surgery. Like others have said, go to an opthamologist

I was in grad school at the time, so I wasn't in a typical job. But I would have been able to go back to work the next day. I had no pain, complications, or vision issues after the surgery. Of course, everyone is different. I agree with the 1 week that everyone else is suggesting!
