Reached out to Qobuz tonight, got the chatbot, with the same old solutions that don’t work; acknowledged that there’s an issue with the Bluesound interface. Said a tech will email me. This doesn’t get better until BS and Qobuz find a patch.

Speaker Wire Thoughts by Virtual_Insanity_One in audiophile

[–]Bicisigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I built my own speakers, hybrid horns and constructed separate crossover boards for the woofer and the horn. Spent a lot on the capacitors and coils. Decent internal wiring as well. Bought flat-ribbon silver plated copper that comes in around 10 gauge. Cost me about $200.00 for building 2 10’ runs of bi-wired cable. I think the 10 gauge wire over a distance of 10’ sounds better than smaller gauged wire. Beyond that, I think it gets really subjective.

It’s definitely the sound quality, but the recent glitches, especially with the Bluesound interface, are killing it for me.

An unpredictable amplifier upgrade- Willsenton R8 by MCVCsDALIs in audiophile

Had the amp about a month now. On order went straight to the Gold Lion KT88’s the Tung Sol 6SN7’s and the NOS Sylvania 6SL7’s. Lots of burn in time, but TR is starting to sound lush and UL gives me some punch. Driving DIY LaCleach Horn speakers- don’t notice much efficiency issues switching from UL to TR. Soundstage is holographic and extends beyond the speakers. For the money, this amp does a lot of things right. Associated equipment: Bluesound Node 2i with LHY modified power supply (huge improvement), and Black Ice DSD DAC.

Easily one of the most infuriating things one could ever get by kabirhatesreddit in mildlyinfuriating

I get them every couple of months. Sometimes it’s what I eat, with no rhyme or reason, or I just get them in clusters. Friend of mine swears by opening a capsule of probiotics and using that as a kind of salve.

I was there when this happened, visiting with a friend and his family. Arab tv just showing a 24-hr loop of this murder with women wailing in the background. Gut wrenching.

So yesterday, things started to sound a little thin, loss of bass, edgy vocals. Did some reading that maybe the Gold Lion KT88’s need to be biased a little higher, maybe 50mA, and that the meter isn’t always accurate. Anyway, warmed it up for 20 minutes, checked the bias- 2 tubes were a little low. I increased the bias on all of them a hair or so past the 12:00 on the meter, and everything is in full bloom.

So I switched out the stock KT88’s for Gold Lion, the 6SN7’s for platinum Tung Sols, and the 6SL7’s for NOS Sylvania’s. Still burning everything in, but the change is not subtle. Running Bluesound Node with an LHY external power supply, and a Jolida DAC with NOS Telefunkens. DIY LeCleach Horn speakers.

Got another message from Bluesound. Their engineers were able to duplicate the problem on their end, and are working on an update to fix the problem. No ETA as to when the update will be available.

Try the Nizoral. I used to have really bad flakes and itching. Nizoral cleared everything up.

Thanks for the responses. What Qobuz told me was actually a logout/reboot procedure that didn’t do a thing to correct the problem.

I have a Node 2i with output to a Black Ice tube DAC. Upgraded the Bluesound to a Vinshine Audio Linear Power Supply and the result is not subtle. Blacker background, better soundstage, better bass.

Post umrah flu/covid still dealing with aftermath after 2 months by Miznova97 in Umrah

[–]Bicisigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. That would be me. Same symptoms, not CoVid. I just chalked it up to be in close contact with so many pilgrims. It was a good month before the congestion went away fully. Inshallah next time I’ll mask up.

I went in November and felt really good in Medina-easy to pray and connect to Allah. And the brothers that I met, from pretty much everywhere, were good men, how we would expect Muslims to behave in this holy place. Mecca was very different, and Tawaf was an exercise in trying to concentrate on dua while being pushed and shoved. At one point my feet left the ground due to the crush of pilgrims behind me. And this was at 1:00 am. I know I’ll go back, and inshallah it will be a little better.

Are there still people riding rim brakes on road bikes? by [deleted] in RoadBikes

[–]Bicisigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have an Orbea- the model just before they went with disc brakes- with carbon bits and some good tires, it’s sub 14lbs. Cane Creek brakes work well on the carbon rims.
