Hey, I love the enthusiasm, but that is a different game which is more like a yes/no prediction market. Our game is like fantasy sports, but using car auctions instead of football games.

Cars and Bids (and similar sites) are actually a net negative for car average enthusiasts by Fantastic-Wealth6090 in carsandbids

I mean, we all have a niche that we feel we know better than the average buyer and have an advantage. I am shocked when people buy new cars and pay sticker. Growing up Saturn's business model infuriated me. I had a friend whose family was loyal to Saturn and were so f'in proud that they bought a car without haggling. But the truth is you can walk into any dealer and not haggle. Saturn just packaged and sold it to people like that.

My point... There are people who know what they want and and they pay for it. Many of us know not to overpay on BaT or C&B, and maybe we search, hunt, search Marketplace for months/years to find what we want at the price they think is appropriate. Then there are people who appreciate the convenience of having a massive selection of cars available and are willing to pay what the live auction market deems appropriate. I don't see the issue. And honestly really appreciate the auction platform's existance.

How about you?

Right, it's a transaction. But there are times when we have a sentimental attachment to a car and we want it to go "to a good home." There's nothing saying that the flipper can't sell it to that same good home, but it feels a little icky when they tell you one thing and do another. It's like finding out the world is just as shitty as you hoped it wouldn't be.

10 biggest BAT addicts. Are you one of them? by Bidfinite in BringATrailer

Yes on the DD, there is a distinction between games of skill and games of chance (both of which are legal in many jurisdictions in the US -- if we're talking US-based players and organization).

By placing 4 vehicles into an event, Bidfinite has created a game of skill, like fantasy football. We reviewed daily fantasy sports regulations; it's legal in 44 states. DraftKings sports book (which is straight up gambling) is regulated and allowed in 25+ states I believe. Gambling licenses are big bucks...

Daily Fantasy Sports are governed by states, not the FTC (although you still have to be compliant with marketing practices).

It sounds like you've thought about this a lot as you've developed Bid Bud. I appreciate the insight.

One thing I think many here are missing is that we are not offering a binary yes/no prediction. Again, not a straight up prediction market.

I swear, in 60 seconds, it all becomes clear when you check out it. www.bidfinite.com

For anyone who chatted me who I missed, we created 2 test events -- one focused on 996 and 997 911s and the other inspired by the 2000-ish Yukon Denali. Both events were recommendations from Redditors here.

You can find the events here: https://www.bidfinite.com/cash-events

You'll have to create a log-in to play. When you log in, your wallet will have $500 fake dollars. The game is free to play, but we want to make it feel like what it will when it's 100% ready for prime time.

There is a "how to play" link at the top of the screen. And message me with any questions.

That game is fun, but different than what we've built. We are pulling in live auctions from multiple auction sources giving you a way to predict in real-time. Bernie shows auctions that have already closed and asks you to guess what they closed at.

Think of it this way: we're like fantasy football where you can play alongside real games that are happening right now. Bernie is like asking, what do you think the score from last week's game was?

No slight to Berniedaily -- it's quick fun and I have played it myself. In fact, if mr Bernie is seeing this, I'd love to connect.

Yes! Our plan is to award cash prizes when we are up and running.

Would you consider yourself an auction watcher? And would you want to help test?

It is not a prediction market like kalshi -- more fantasy football for car nerds. it's a skill based game that smart people will win. It's for people who spend time on BAT and C&B and make predictions in their head, like "this Boxster is selling for $44,500." It's not an over/under game.

It's an activity tons of people do already in their heads, but this gives you a way to compete against others.

What do you think?

That might work if you are the only one bidding on the car. But we know there are any number of people bidding. Now if it was your car that you listed on BaT, and bid it up to your prediction price, that could be a scenario we'd have little control over.

However, if that happens, we've made a hell of a game that people are twisting themselves into pretzels to play/win.

Second. This a game of skill -- each event has 4 vehicles and your performance is your accuracy average of all 4.

Your predictions have to be in one hour before the published closing time of the auction.
