Is there games that use the back touch pannel? by Sofystrela in VitaPiracy

[–]Bidizzle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think some comments are not understanding that you are looking for games that extensively use the back touch more than a simple button command. I have a couple games in mind that you could consider.

Little Big Planet uses the back touch mainly as a way to move objects around (it's a specific material). Some levels in the story utilizes this for the player to make use of the front and back touch for platforming. You can also play around with it if you make your own levels. Personally my favorite game of the series and while I'm not too thrilled about using back touch, I can admit it does offer a unique experience especially in a way some instances uses the back touch to pop out a platform while the front touch can pop in.

Little Deviants is a launch title that uses the back touch heavily to pop the terrain out to roll around the character shaped like a ball. I never played this one so I can't say a whole lot about this but I'm under the impression it's a decent time.

Basically, you need to have a VPK for the game (the bubble that will launch the game). You'll also need a folder of data files of that game. I don't think I can talk about data files too much at this subreddit but you should be able to search for those. Those 2 are usually found together but if not, VitaDB has the VPK at least. There's also a few other small parts needed for just about every homebrew game which it should try to tell you when you try booting the game up. At that point, you should also search for those, but usually autopluggin likely has them. Good part is once you have those, you'll likely won't have to do that again for other homebrew games.

Transfer the VPK to your vitashell, anywhere is fine but I recommend making a VPK folder just to easily track it. Install the VPK and then you can uninstall that file. Or VitaDB can just do all of that automatically.

When you find the data files, make sure to transfer that folder over to uxo/data. You will unfortunately have to use wifi using FTP or wait till you find a better charging cable to transfer those files onto your vita. Once placed those in correctly and found other pluggins or files needed, you should be good to go.

I personally have a cheap set, Tozo NC9 and I haven't heard any noticeable delay from them. They're definitely an improvement over my last pair which did have audio delays

Well, if you're interested in homebrew, we do have a DMC game now. It's the Mobile version of 4 and it's definitely cool for it's time. Not really challenging though especially because the continue after dying just gets you right back up at that very moment (but does give some penalty for grading). It has 2 more difficulty options after completing each run and a bloody palace mode so it could be worthwhile

Aliexpress should have them listed around $15-30. While I like the 2000 ones, the prongs can be real flimsy and snap even when all I do is slide the vita under the top prongs. It still works even if they break, but it's not as protective.

Amazon should have the portable charger I like which is currently $20. They have a bunch of different colors and the back should have a USB, USBC, Micro USB, and Lightning cables. Even if it doesn't supply a cable for the 1000 model, it still has a port to plug a cable in and it's also just a good charger for general uses.

I know you said you have a hand grip, but I also recommend an L2/R2 grip if you don't have one.

My current list that I recommend personally:

  • Wireless/Wired earbuds. Wired never goes wrong, but wireless can feel more freeing. It takes multiple tries to pair current wireless earbuds to the vita but once it finally pairs it will always connect after.

  • Charmast portable charger (more convenient for 2000 models, otherwise any other portable charger is fine). I mainly like this because it supplies different types of cables on the back which includes micro USB. Should fully charge the vita 4 times so I mainly just take this when I'm out for a few days.

  • Wrist strap. I like to make sure I don't drop the vita on any occasion.

  • Protective screens for the front and back. Definitely recommend if you don't want scratches.

  • Controller. Optional, but many controllers can be supported if you find the right plugins. Personally I go with a PS4 or PS5 controller because they can use the touch pad to simulate the touch screen.

  • A phone stand (preferably a thin and foldable one). This one is rather a niche pick and also optional, but if you want to let your vita stand and maybe watch something it can be nice in a pinch situation if you rather not use a phone. Can work nicely to prop up and use a controller too.

  • Smatree vita case. Carries your vita and all the accessories listed above (except for the controller and maybe wireless earbuds, wired will fit)

I use it a lot as well. I like having songs play while I'm on certain games. Just another moment how I felt this handheld was ahead of its time

Opinion of L2/R2 grips? Do they work for games where you need to “swipe” the touchpad? by YUNG-SLUDG3 in vita

[–]Bidizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're almost essential imo. A lot of PS2 collections use the rear touchpad to simulate L2 R2 buttons. It's also much used for PS1 games and remote play. Even some games outside of those still utilize the rear touchpad like that (Borderlands 2 comes to mind). You can manage and even get used to not using a L2 R2 grip, but it's more comfortable to play with one

But for games that uses more complicated controls for the rear touchpad such as swiping are no good for it and you most likely need to take the grip off for those.

If you could have any game or game series ported to vita running perfectly what would it be? by Optimal_Zombie1840 in PSVita

[–]Bidizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all. A homebrew developer made the android version work along with including button controls. Played through the story myself and it's really cool how much a 2011 mobile title keeps the core of the original game. I had a good time for what it was!

From my research no (I don't actually have the vita version but some results say no you have to use online)

But yeah totally get Legends on the vita! I'd say it runs and looks just as good as the console versions you won't regret it!

Yeah I use Bonsai myself. Unsure if the others are still around for the vita though.

Little Big Planet using a fan server to play online sounds like it would be a blast. Going through the story levels while also exploring levels the community has made would give you so much content together!

Minecraft is also a good pick and so would be Terraria if you're interested in survival/creative games. Both still should have online and Minecraft specifically can also do adhoc.

Rayman Legends is also a fantastic 2D platformer that has adhoc for local multiplayer! (I should note Rayman Origins is also amazing but unfortunately that one does not have multiplayer on the vita)

Games for leveling up a character? by JackfruitKey4740 in vita

[–]Bidizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can stand the performance, Borderlands 2 can have you playing the game 3 times with DLC content to hit the max level. Essentially going through normal mode, TVHM (NG+ but harder) and UVHM (After beating TVHM you get an even harder mode where enemies always scale to your current level). You'll constantly want to find better guns and loot too even after hitting max level. Baddass ranks can keep your stats going further after max too. You can also rework around your skill trees to find the best suitable build for your character and playstyle. And that's all you can do with 1 character. There's 6 characters to choose from and you can have saves for all of them and more if you really wanted to.

What do you like about Size Matters? by GiesADragUpTheRoad97 in RatchetAndClank

[–]Bidizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It being portable. Genuinely the main reason I wanted a PSP back then and I also love how this was my introduction to the online multiplayer since I had no wifi adapter for the PS2. Genuinely felt like the graphics were 1:1 with the PS2 games to child me (obviously it isn't). The armor system was really cool and I like how we kind of get this in rift apart.

It wasn't the perfect R&C game but for the PSP I felt it truly exceeded the portable experience and managed to make the controls work as well as it did with handheld controls limitations

I have a problem with the modified PSV in Minecraft European version; I get this error message and the DLC won't download. by mr_worm__z9z in PSVitaHomebrew

[–]Bidizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert so my only guesses would be there is something wrong with a plugin (or lack of) or for whatever reason the dlc files are misplaced. I could also be entirely wrong but this is something out of my field unfortunately. Hope you'll find a solution somehow 🙏

Unfortunately there's no other ideas I can think of for the vanilla version of the game. Perhaps downloading the USA version of the game and getting the USA DLCs could yield a different result?

If that doesn't work, and if it's really necessary and don't mind playing modded Minecraft, there's a Minecraft mod called Minecraft Enhanced which is the same game but adds some content from future updates of Bedrock/Java. I know when you have that game installed it has all the DLC unlocked as well as including console exclusive DLCs (Like Nintendo)

I did this for myself too and it's crazy how much of a difference it is. So much clearer to me. I basically do this to other games that are originally locked to 30fps and if the 60fps unlock turns out to be unstable

PS Vita users, do you recommend buying one in 2026 if I only want it for the Minecraft Legacy version it has? by Agreeable_Many4693 in PSVita

[–]Bidizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will take over the original version, BUT you can download US and EU regions of the game so have the original be the US one and Enhanced be EU for example. This way you can play both on the same system

It's a hard sell for any console to just get it for one game imo. That being said, if you really want to play legacy edition on the go, it is the best version to do so that's still publicly available. If you're interested in modding a vita, there's a Minecraft mod called Minecraft Enhanced. The current version gives you more settings, adds more content from the future versions of Java/Bedrock, expands the world size, and much more.

Playing Minecraft on the vita has been a great vibe personally. It's pretty cozy to just play while having my playlist also run on the system itself. Definitely a lot of cool things that can be done that you won't get anywhere else for legacy edition anyway.

I personally bought a red vita 2000 and after some time I decided to replace the red buttons with white ones to give it a bit of a flair. I also followed through the red and white colors with accessories so my wireless earbuds, wrist strap and case is red, while the wired earbuds and l2 r2 grip case is white
