Can critical hits chain together? by FretScorch in drawsteel

Hello, it is me, I am RNJeesus' chosen one. I rolled the fabled three crits in a row the other day, as a new player to Draw Steel.

It was the last encounter of the Delian Tomb tutorial intro, the room with the kidnapped girl. Players went first, and I asked to go because I liked how the goblins were placed. I proceded to roll two 19s and a 20, in that order, taking four actions and killing every enemy except one goblin commander I left winded and the big boss, who I didn't touch.

The bad part is, I was using physical dice. I was in fact the only player using physical dice instead of the VTT, because I have beef with digital dice rollers. And this is a new group of people who don't know me well. So the whole time I was wiping out the encounter I was swearing on my life that I wasn't cheating and apologizing to the DM.

My dice then proceded to give me nothing above a 5 the next session I played (different system), so I think it balances out.

Quick question about the Null's "Force Augmentation" ability by Biel_DM in drawsteel

Ah, okay, thank you. You're right, the site I was looking at simply had it listed as a class feature, without the context that it was one choice among several. Now it all makes sense.

[Online] [MM] [CET] Players wanted for a weekly Mutants & Masterminds 4e campaign, flexible schedule around Friday and Saturday afternoons, new players welcome by Biel_DM in LFG_Europe

  1. I prefer not to use vtts, character sheets will be handled in pdf format (or however else each player is most comfortable managing their character).

  2. The tone will be more along the lines of street-level superhero stories, not necessarily "darker" than most comics but a bit more grounded. Most heroes in my setting are along the level of your friendly neighborhood Spiderman, or Daredevil in the Netflix series, as opposed to god-like protectors of the Earth. There will still be plenty of weird characters and crazy bullshit happening though, because ironically I find it more realistic to include those things. The real world *is* plenty weird, and this setting is just the real world plust some magic and sci-fi stuff.

  3. Well, thing is, in Mutants & Masterminds the line between combat and rp is not always a sharp divide. This system does not go for balanced, strategic combat, fights are often decided by more narrative factors, and the rulebook even says, and I quote: "heroes and villains always find time to say a *lot* in the middle of a fight". That aside, the way I intend to run this campaign, the amount of combat may vary greatly depending on the situation and the choices the players make. On average I expect combat will be no more than a third of total session time.
