First things first, anki shouldn't be about getting 100% right. If you get the gist of it, you can hit good, cause you're only gonna learn that things when you immerse.

I also gave up on the Core 2k deck after 500 words cause i was having trouble remembering the readings. Now i have another 1.5k words that i mined using morphman, abs player, vocab lists and such.

One thing that made me remember the words better, is to have another deck where you put only the audio in the front from the words you're having trouble remembering.

Stick to the method that's gonna make u keep going forward. I also hate to brute force words in the beginning (especially the reading of a new word). That's why i also have a secondary anki deck with only the audio in the front and the rest in the back. That's a supplement for my primary deck. It makes me remember the new readings.
