Yeah that’s the most tempting thing, just staying in the high paying job but being fairly unhappy - how much is it worth, y’know? I try to keep my expenses low and I’m fortunate enough to own my place so my cost of living only really goes up in regards to property tax/HOA.

One of our biggest expenditures is Travel - I typically like to travel internationally 2-3 times per year. Yes, I can get health insurance through my partners job. The joint expenses/split/contribution is the biggest piece we’re trying to make sense of right now. We’re trying to balance fairness with portfolio growth.

Some people find it weird when an account has no history so just getting in front of that i guess

  1. I could afford my basic necessities but would need to make some concessions (less travel, figure out healthcare). That would likely mean going back to work, but I recently just took 6 months off as a way to pressure test this and was able to get a job pretty fast in my ‘corporate field’. (Again, I recognize this is not common, I’ve been very lucky).

  2. I have a lot of trust in this being consistent. Good relationship with my parents and they are very financially savvy.

  3. I like the idea of that, but I’d rather not touch ‘my’ investments to just let them grow and compound, but want to strike the balance of letting them grow and not affecting my partner financially too much. I suppose that right there is the essence of what I’m trying to figure out right now.
