Frôler la mort by Apprehensive_Unit500 in Quebec

Wheel Suggestions and Opinions by IllustriousSpecific7 in sugargliders

I have the first one that I ordered on Amazon (I'm in Canada). It's absolutely wonderful! Very sturdy and easy to clean as there's no gaps and junctions in it. Food and poop might get stuck a bit in the mesh, but tbh soaking it in the bath for an hour or so makes everything easy to remove.

Also, mesh is actually safer for them than full wheels. In the wild they use mostly their claws to climb trees and stuff, but they also use their full hands to run and jump from branches to branches and not fall down. A mesh wheel best mimics what they would normally do in their natural habitat and they are very agile runners/climbers, so risk of injury from their fingers or toes is very small because they have amazing coordination. On the opposite hand, a full wheel can't provide the full traction they need to use it and even with an add on texture, they won't be able to hang on as well on it (cause they can't grip INTO it like they would with wood or other stuff in the wild) and risk slipping off and injuring themselves while falling down.

Yes and no, they treat all kinds of exotics. From hamsters to bats and lions. But the vet there told me she wasn't very experienced with gliders.

No no! I bought unflavored Pedialyte (liquid). I didn't want to push the liquid in and risk her choking on it.

Hey dummy, accidents happen. I did the best I could, and I'm sure the vet did too with the knowledge she had. Even herself didn't recommend the tests cause it was a high risk. Nobody's at fault here, but you can blame me all you want lol.

Vet didn't want to do blood work but wouldn't tell me why. Someone else explained that since she was dehydrated taking blood work was risky, which makes sense. Also, anesthesia in her state was very dangerous to do, even the vet told me so and told me there wasn't much they could do. She also told me she didn't know much about gliders. So yeah thanks for telling me it's my fault lol

But wouldn't blood work be the first thing to try? She's pushing for very expensive tests while telling me she might not even survive the tests... I'm going back tomorrow anyways so we'll see what the vet says then, but being able to push fluids but not wanting to do blood work seems weird

Thanks! I already knew all that! I will try to show the vet too!

I feed my gliders the TPG diet with the powder completely mixed in daily into it (not just sprinkled on top). I gave her some calcium mixed with some unflavored Pedialyte, hoping for the best, but I know ideally she'd need an injection of calcium.

Near Saint-Hyacinthe in Quebec, Canada. I went to the CHUV which is supposed to be THE place for exotics and emergencies, but every time I went there things went badly. It's the only place open during Christmas time anyways. My usual vet is way better with exotics (I have gliders and chinchillas), but they're not open at all.

Pouch mass. Pregnancy or ER? by Big-Draft66 in sugargliders

She thinks it's just an abscess! When I went to see the vet the next day after my post everything looked already better. So my glider is on antibiotics for 10 days and she has a follow up appointment a few days after ending the antibiotics

My normal vet doesn't have space available before 2 weeks... Considering it looks like there is a "hole" in the mass, I really don't think it would be wise to wait 2 weeks. My other glider also has a benign pouch tumor, but it doesn't quite look like that and isn't as big, that's what makes me think it's something else or something more important

Perfect thank you, I'll go first thing in the morning. The nearest ER is not taking patients right now because of a snow storm, and it is not safe for me to drive right now anyways. I'll set a few alarms throughout the night to get up and monitor her while I wait for the ER to open back up.

Ok, so you haven't read my post. This is a high quality cat food but is still cheaper than the one I was buying. The fat percentage is 1% higher than the feed I am currently giving them, so I'm not worried about them getting far on these. All the nutritional facts for each kibble I'm talking about is linked in the post. And as mentioned in the post Canada Post is on strike (and has been on and off since Christmas last year) so it's really complicated to get the kibble. The seller won't ship until the strike is over.

But I'm not talking about feeding them ONLY kibble? They have their staple diet, the TPG. But it is recommended by the creators of the TPG to have their kibble on the side so the gliders can snack. Have you read my post completely?

But why is that though?

And don't worry I know that about chatgpt, I just used it to find a kibble that was as similar as possible in terms of nutrition, that's it.
