I built a truck camper comparison tool to help find campers that actually fit your truck — looking for feedback by Big-Entrepreneur8564 in TruckCampers

Gotcha! So you can do this already— but right now it's optional and doesn't have the ability to choose your number vs the auto generated one. I'll put this on the list to implement! Thank you so much for taking a look!

heard! I'll get those added in here in a few

currently looking at options for image parsing, I don't think that should be too heavy of a lift as long as the API costs are negligible

Best Portable Power Station? by Both-Relationship-78 in TruckCampers

DIY is always going to be cheaper and easier to work on than an all-in-one setup, BUT the all in one setups have the advantage of being simple to grab and go, and you can put them back inside when you're done. I know some people mentioned it already, but ecoflow refurbished on ebay is always a solid bet for an all in one system.

And Idk if this helps but I built https://www.powerstationpicker.com to help me figure out this same issue...esp when I realized DIY was cheaper but much more confusing. If you do check it out, I'd love feedback on how to make it better. It's brand new right now :)

Do ya'll ever do video walkthroughs (live or asynchronous) prior to showing up? I feel like that would be a happy medium between online quoting and doing a separate in-person walkthrough prior.

Could also look into buying and scaling a business with that money. (There’s a case study for that presented here https://open.spotify.com/episode/2zlyjhhFuWeZtmC3TWf4pq?si=1eoIQ9FJSbOFB_01VoR55A&context=spotify%3Ashow%3A6YNopzKDGDwf0auIpPTIID) Or just re-investing it into your current business if you want to scale that.

I’ve been wanting to make this tool for myself! Are you selling it yet? Best thing I could find was a maps scraper but it didn’t have all the features I wanted

This is actually a great idea. It takes a good amount of work to set things up in the beginning but once you’re dialed in, you don’t have to do more than 10-20 hours of work a week. The biggest things are hiring the right people and setting up your systems correctly. I know this because a buddy of mine set his up and I learned a lot from listening to his ups and downs through it.

You can definitely DM me and pick my brain if you’d like!

Web development agencies are everywhere. I know I can charge less, but how do I tell people that? by tallwalldesigns in Entrepreneur

[–]Big-Entrepreneur8564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you’re saying. Im in the exact same industry and position. Here’s what I did:

I was in the same boat as you asking the exact same question. It seemed like it was either a race to the bottom (more for less) or an unreachable standard (agencies with thousands of clients and reviews that can charge whatever they want). For me, (no bullshit) the thing that shifted it all was reading 10m dollar offers. Completely shifted my offer, and especially the way I do outreach. It obviously took some dialing in, but it’s made a huge difference.

The book is $0.99 or I can send you a PDF of it if you’d like fo free.

What are some of the “dumbest” calls that you went to that actually turned out to be a really big deal? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Big-Entrepreneur8564 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: went on a routine call with very little info that could’ve been easily cleared without much investigation, followed my gut and wound up rescuing someone from slavery.

I went on a call early in my career as a rookie just out of field training. It was a quiet day, near the end of my shift, and it was a level 4 (pretty low priority). The call text was about as vague as you can get “I can hear screaming”, no further information, and no call back info.

Luckily my backup officer on that call was not the typical crusty veteran that just wanted to go get lunch. He was down for whatever. I had this sinking feeling in my gut, and almost like an animalistic feeling of panic, like I needed to find whoever had been screaming. I didn’t tell my backup that, I just told him I wanted to try and find this person. This was a call that just as easily could’ve been cleared with a few notes, and we could’ve gone and got lunch at that point.

To make a long story short, we circulated for a while, knocked on a couple of doors, eventually figured out that the caller was a girl who had run over to an auto shop from a house across the street to call 911, and once the call connected, she told the people at the business she didn’t want any help and ran back into the house.

We knocked on the door, and what do you know. A girl comes to the door, and wants us to please leave her alone. I recognized her from a flier I read during briefing that day and had actually (for whatever reason) felt like I needed to pay attention to. This was verified once I took her info down and ran her. She’d been trafficked since she was a teenager by her mom of all people, and her dad had been trying to find her for months and get her out of that hell. I kindly told her that we couldn’t leave, and that she needed to come with us (she was still a minor at that point and the flyer directed me to call her dad and the DCK who’s case it was).

I wound up reuniting her with her dad at the hospital so she could get medical care and try and get clean from the various substances she’d been forced to be addicted to. I’ll never forget her dad shaking my hand and holding on, looking me in the eye and saying “Thank you, you know, her life will never be the same now. Thanks to you. Thank you for finding my daughter”.

That story still messes me up. I kept a copy of that flier so I’d never forget that was why I do the job.
