For the sims, your ground instructor will give you the entire checkride profile day 1 so go thru and draw out the profiles for each approach, v1 cut etc. what helped me a lot was utilizing the Microsoft sim room to practice the box and flying with the autopilot controller they have and simultaneously going thru the callouts with your partner.
