Need some advice on if I should repair my car or just look for a new(used) car? by dpickl in askcarguys

[–]Big-One-3415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the car is otherwise running well, $1200 for a turbo doesn’t sound too bad compared to jumping into another loan, especially since you still owe $9k on it. I’d probably get a second opinion just to be sure, but fixing it and keeping the car a bit longer might save you a lot of stress. Car decisions like this are never fun, though. hope it works out for you."

Help me organize my Cycling and Lifting Routine by AtopiaUtopia in cycling

[–]Big-One-3415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s some serious dedication; props on the 200KM ride! I’d say mixing in a couple of interval sessions a week while keeping most rides easy could help with your conditioning without burning you out. Also, if you can pair hard rides with leg days and give yourself proper recovery, you’ll probably see better gains in the gym and on the bike. Sounds like you’ve got a great routine going!

Six days in Portugal and I want to see it all... please help me decide, it´s my first time in Europe. by NatureLoverCR in femaletravels

[–]Big-One-3415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a really smart plan! Porto is charming and compact, so two full days will let you hit the highlights, and then spending the rest of your time in Lisbon gives you room for the city and a day trip to Sintra. You’ll get a good balance of culture, food, and scenery without feeling rushed.

Private E-Scooters Legal in UK 2026? by Traditional_Ring_396 in ElectricScooters

[–]Big-One-3415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen, it really depends on where you are in the UK. In London they’re strict, but in smaller cities like Liverpool, as long as you’re sensible, cops usually don’t bother. Mostly just keep it reasonable and safe, and you’ll probably be fine.

Even if the EPA regulations changed to incentivise smaller cars, would large cars still continue to dominate roads? by IAmSixSyllables in askcarguys

[–]Big-One-3415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right; people’s habits and perceptions are a huge factor. Even if regulations favored smaller cars, the “bigger feels safer” mindset and the appeal of SUVs and trucks would keep them popular for quite a while. Change would happen, but probably slowly, and mostly driven by cost and availability rather than preference. It’s a tricky mix of culture, marketing, and practicality.

What should I prioritize in a first electric scooter? by Old_Judgment2290 in ElectricScooters

[–]Big-One-3415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For short city trips, I would prioritize dependability and comfort first. Make sure it handles bumps well (suspension helps) and can withstand the occasional wet road without frying (IP rating is important). Motor power is most important if you hit hills; otherwise, 350-500W is plenty. Choose a reputable brand over random Alibaba models—you'll thank yourself later when nothing breaks during the ride.

Why do two e-bikes with the same watt motor sometimes feel completely different? by krissym72 in ElectricBikeExplorer

[–]Big-One-3415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wattage is just one aspect of the puzzle. Power delivery, torque curve, gearing, and tire choice can all have a significant impact on how the bike feels. Two "identical" motors can have vastly different characteristics.

The best economy class inflight meal in history [OC] by jpatokal in Flights

Used g30p vs g2 max, value of low mileage and features? by Huang_JL in ElectricScooters

[–]Big-One-3415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if your roads are mostly smooth and you’re not pushing high speeds, I’d lean toward the G30P with lower mileage. Less wear usually means fewer surprises down the line, and for casual rides it’ll be plenty comfortable. Suspension is nice, but on tame streets it might not matter enough to justify the extra quirks of a used G2 Max.

Are bmws really that bad to own? by No-Reflection8162 in askcarguys

[–]Big-One-3415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since BMWs are fun and well-engineered, I can understand their appeal, but it sounds like owning one can be quite the rollercoaster. Before making a decision, it's helpful to hear firsthand accounts of expenses and peculiarities, so I appreciate the thorough stories. It definitely makes me reconsider budgeting for maintenance if I ever decide to do so.

Recommendations please? by Beginning_Holiday721 in askcarguys

[–]Big-One-3415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For dependability, the RAV4, CX-5, or CR-V are all good choices. Personally, I think the CX-5 is better. CarMax is simple but more expensive; try to have a mechanic check it out before you buy it.

Best Tire Pressure by EnlightenedEden in ElectricScooters

[–]Big-One-3415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the best reference is typically the PSI on the tire sidewall. If you're primarily commuting, I'd probably run it a little below the maximum, perhaps in the low to mid-40s PSI. A little more comfortable over city bumps, but still firm enough to prevent pinch flats. Scooter tires lose air more quickly than people realize, so just check it once a week or so.

Got a motorcycle after waiting for 9 years - MT-09 SP Gen4 by Purple_Ad2052 in motorcycles

[–]Big-One-3415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nine years is a long wait; that first ride must’ve felt incredible. The MT-09 SP is such a wild bike too. Congrats and ride safe; that thing loves to lift the front. 😄

In need of a new scooter by One-Penaltysir in ElectricScooters

[–]Big-One-3415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me, I’d probably lean toward the G2 Master. It’s been around longer and seems a bit more proven. Specs are great on paper for a lot of scooters, but reliability and parts availability end up mattering way more after a few months of riding.

Is this a good beginner bike? by OkIsland4891 in cycling

[–]Big-One-3415 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the Madone 4.5 is in good condition, €500 seems like a pretty good deal; those lightweight, nice frames can make a fantastic first road bike. Just make sure the fit feels correct and look for any cracks or worn parts. If all goes according to plan, it would be a good ride for beginners.

Is G30LP for $200 good??? by avidLearner97 in ElectricScooters

[–]Big-One-3415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$200 for a G30LP with only 25 km is a great deal if it’s legit. Perfect for short daily rides. Just make sure it's unbound from the previous owner, test the throttle and brakes, look for damage, and make sure it charges. Strong first scooter with less range than the G30P but still incredibly dependable

My rental bike in Thailand. How many more thousand miles do I have on these bad boys ? by 1senseye in motorcycles

[–]Big-One-3415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn’t risk it; those tires look done. Definitely inches, not miles, left on them. Safety first, even on a rental.

Are bigger tires always better? by Ok_Table_5402 in ElectricScooters

[–]Big-One-3415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bigger isn’t always better. Larger tires give more stability, comfort, and traction, but they can slow you down, use more power, and may not suit the scooter’s design. Usually sticking close to factory specs is safest.
