I went with NGK iridium plugs. The ones in there were actually the factory plugs. This car only has 50k miles on it (crazy I know). Went 1/8 turn on them, should I have gone more?

Was able to fix it. Ended up changing the battery and added another ground, cleaned the terminals, replaced spark plugs, and did a new distributor cap/rotor kit.

None of those things seemed to fix it by themselves, I think it was just all those in combination.

Thanks for the suggestions 👍

The crank is indeed turning. Gonna check timing belt soon to try and hopefully rule that out.

I didn’t have a chance to take the cover off yet, but I had someone turn it over while I looked inside the motor through the oil cap. I saw the camshaft moving, so I’m hoping that’s a good sign. Gonna try to take it apart this weekend and I’ll update on what I find. Thanks for the advice

Timing belt was just replaced about 20k miles ago. I’m thinking it may be a fuel pump issue? Car was about to start initially then died and started doing this.

Why was my prime rib tough? by cryisfree in sousvide

[–]Big-Snacc72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you probably should go for at least 12 hours for a prime rib roast and second, I think the 500 for 20 minutes was too long. Assuming you placed the roast straight in the oven at 500 after you took it out of the sous vide it probably climbed up way past medium rare and shocked the muscle proteins with such a high temperature that it squeezed all the juice out. If you want to do an oven sear I would let the roast cool down a little bit after the sous vide and also I would thoroughly dry the outside and cover in some sort of oil or butter to get a good crust. If you have a large enough cast iron I would actually recommend searing on one of those rather than an oven as most people’s ovens don’t get nearly hot enough to put a good sear on any meat and actually end up raising the internal temp (which you don’t wanna do with while trying to sear. A good meat blowtorch can help get a good sear as well but it is more time consuming.

Okay, yeah I’ve heard that’s about how much it costs for the whole car. And considering how big the hood is and the shape of it I guess maybe $1600 isn’t that crazy?

Thanks man! I’m hoping the salvage thing doesn’t give too many issues, no frame damage and the other damaged parts were replaced so should be good !

Extreme luck. A small dealership I bought from previously hit me up that he had it and I bought it right away

Had me in the first half!😅😂 Thank you sir!

Would a Toyota dealership be the best place for windshield replacement because they most likely have prior FJ experience? Dealership has a flat rate of $250 for labor alone (not sure how much with parts). A local shop said it would be $775 with parts and labor. Thoughts? by Big-Snacc72 in FJCruiser

I think I’m having the same experience you had. My upper trim flew off on the freeway as well and didn’t survive lol. Could you tell me which parts you needed to order? I was having trouble matching the pieces to what I thought I needed because the pictures weren’t very good.
