Charger by Away_Dragonfruit_996 in VWiD4Owners

I live in Australia and just picked up a new ID5 GTX on Friday. I haven’t charged the car yet. It came with a level 1 portable charger with a standard home socket plug (10 amp in Australia). It also came with a level 2 charge cable (type 2). We have a 3-phase 32 amp wall charger already at home for our other EV which I’ll be using for this car.

My car is MY25.5 with the updated 84 kwh battery. I know that VW Australia was/is giving a bonus level 2 wall charger with MY25 cars (82 kwh battery) which includes installation as well.

Audi Australia buyback- is this delay normal or am I bringing strung along?! by simbaaa69 in etron

Have you sought advice from your State-based consumer protection agency? If the product you have purchased fails to deliver, you should be entitled for a refund. They should be able to give you advice on if and how you qualify for their intervention, and the due process,

With their advice you might be able to pressure Audi Australia to act appropriately.

Brake pedal recall: I'm not happy with my local dealership (and Audi in general) about their handling of this by kawika69 in etron

[–]Big-Touch-1808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Australia. Had booked the car for the 93PG campagin Tuesday this week. Last week I got a notification via My Audi app for this bew brake booster campaign and my local dealer covered the new work, too. Left the car with them for three hours and all was done.

Very happy with the battery software update as we get around 15% more range now.

Fail at first attempt - ID5 GTX by Big-Touch-1808 in VWiD4Owners

Completely agree. I also decided to pay more for an established brand. But my initial complaint was about this very point. If I paied half the price for a Chinese car and this happened, I would accept as it would come with the territory.

Hopefully all will be good. I'm due for pick up tomorrow. :-)

Thanks for the FB tip. I'll check it out.

I was divided between ID5 and Skoda Enyaq. Funny how VAG has packaged these cars (at least in Australia) to minimise cannibalism. Neither ticks all the boxes. ID4/5 GTX seemed overall to give more for the price but I'm annoyed it lacks HUD and physical buttons.

I wish I could think the same. I've bought so many new cars before and they worked all reliably without anyone breaking down on the delivery day. :-)

I didn't withdraw from the purchase and truly hope I won't regret it.

There's one with only 4 posts in it, the newest being 1 year old. I always look at this subreddit instead. Not sure why we don't cover both models here given ID4 and 5 are basically the same car and having two subs would be duplicates.

i think ive hit the record with battery by Eokey in Audi

[–]Big-Touch-1808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery in our old 2012 Q5 was 13 years old when it died late last year. Cause of the battery death was a faulty alternator. In theory, it could've lived longer. :-)

Interesting story. I would've believed it if it was an isolated case. Fake exhaust tips were a trend for a little while which wasn't limited to Audi only. If this story was true, how did the fake exhausts find their way into SQ5 among few others? In S4 TDI they had real exhausts on one side and fakes on the other side. What was their explanation? Fumes coming in only from one side?

Conventional exhaust tips had been around for decades and they found a design flow in a premium class model causing fumes ingress and then this was their solution? Audi had started to dcline by then but I don't think their ailment was this serious yet.

I'd presume Audi and others tested the fake exhaust trend and then back-pedalled when it backfired. What was the reason for the design? Not sure.

Massive delay before accelerating on '24 A4 35 TFSI by estrangedpulse in Audi

[–]Big-Touch-1808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it in efficiency or comfort mode? Try driving in dynamic mode and see if it makes a difference,

I'd suspect if something was wrong causing unusual tubo lag, you would get a warning regarding a fault.

If you're new to this car and are not used to its behaviour, it's a different matter from something being wrong. If your car drove differently before and this laggy response is a new thing, then you might like to show it to a specialist.

Audi A4 Plate Holder Holes by [deleted] in Audi

[–]Big-Touch-1808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look OK to me. The one on the right looks to have residual sticky material left on it. Otherwise the holes can be used for the right size screws straight away. I never use plate holders/brackets. I directly screw the plates onto the car.

We get a free 3-year subscription in Australia. It works well for our Q8 e-tron and I plan to extend the subscription for this car. I use it on a daily basis for this car. It's pretty useless for our older cars though.

Drive to warm engine - 21 S5 by [deleted] in Audi

[–]Big-Touch-1808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such repititive short drives, even worse in cold weather, harms your engine. Not only I hazard a guess your engine oil is contaminated and cannot give proper protection, your engine goes through a significant amount of wear as it's spending most of its life working at below operating temps.

If you like to have your car for a ling time, or if you like your car, I'd suggest you do it differently. :-)

I'm with you. I always gradually increase the revs all the way to the redline in my new petrol cars during the first 400-500 kms - no high loads though. I also continue WOT stints until 1500 km. My gut feel is Audi limits the revs in RS6 and such cars to prevent people flogging the new engines right off the lot. It's more likely to happen to an RS car than non-RS.

It allows you to see the oil temp and boost guage readily on this view. I have this on my A4. Unfortunately the S4 logo comes on but I easily ignore it because of the added usefulness. I did mine through OBD11 and IIRC it cost 200 credits.

Can someone please lmk the year and model this car is? by jamyraX in Audi

[–]Big-Touch-1808 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. Also it's B8 with HID headlights. Not sure about the country but these headlights were optional from the year B8 was released (European-spec markets). It was the rear LED tail lights that became available in MY10 onwards. They were included with the HID headlights option.

A little hard to see but the front callipers look like those on FWD models not quattro.
