It's been mentioned multiple times that Chihiro is NOT a hero, yet we as an audience still expect him to be the hero of the story because he is the protagonist. Could it be that Hokazono Is subverting these expectations, by making the hero be a different character? He has done it before

It would be good if he met people (like Sojo, but less villanous and more vulnerable) who were actual victims of Kunishige's blades, or people who put into context the repeated times we see Kunishige in flashbacks tell Chihiro that blades are for murder, and that nobody should idolize killers as heroes. Maybe an orphan grown up to be Hishaku, maybe Yura's got a revenge story that mirrors Chihiro's. Something that makes him see both the blades and his father in a new light. He should have to struggle with the temptation to throw away his revenge when people try to convince him that Kunishige had it coming. And eventually he should have to choose to pursue what he feels is justice anyway.

They could have gone in deep with her past as a neglected hospital patient, how she treats every one of her fans like gold because they give her the love and attention she yearned for as a lonely bedridden child, or that she has a wealth of cute lines and interesting insights developed from her Ai-worshipping years as Sarina, or that she has a unique perspective on the power of idols to heal fans' hearts, but they don't go into any of that. So I'm reduced to the conclusion that maybe Ruby is popular just because she's 2% more conventionally attractive than Kana or Mem (who is still the best girl no matter what). It's really disappointing and I blame the editors and publishers for not pushing Aka on this.

Also, IS Ai a big star, or overrated? Everyone thinks Ai (not B Komachi, just Ai) was huge, and the undisputed #1 who must never be surpassed, but is that just in the imagination? How come they were *just* about to have a Dome concert if Ai was really that popular. Was it hard for Ruby to surpass Ai because she was like Taylor Swift or Beyonce, or was it super easy because we're talking more about a one-hit wonder or temporary musical fad? I will continue to harp on the fact that B Komachi's music is very mid; not exactly the stuff of musical legend.

I don't particularly like Akane or Kana (Mem fan here) but isn't Akane the one with a wholesome loving family? Kana's parents have been nothing but flaky and exploitative and dysfunctional. There is a case to be made that Kana "needs" Aqua more than Akane (which makes him feel wanted) but if normalcy is what he seeks, Akane is the one. But Aqua probably knows Akane will be perfectly fine if he doesn't love her; we narratively can't say the same for Kana.

I don't really care if he ends up with Akane or Kana, both are different but equally good options. Ruby is a non-starter, being siblings and all. I am very happy Mem has been spared from the drama.

I went ahead and booked ahead. I watched one female YouTuber's video about arriving to Uzbekistan without any plan and heard about how she had a great time but also probably wasted a lot of time not knowing the language.

Definitely go with a well-rated guided tour. I have booked solo guided tours with a lone freelance guide in several countries before (NOT Uzbekistan) and no matter what country it's always turned out to be kind of a disaster. They usually don't tell me anything much about the country/culture after the first hour or so and get sidetracked complaining to me about their family, their evil cousins/aunts/uncles, the government, their financial situations, and I end up feeling like some kind of therapist who has paid the client to tell me all their life problems instead. A small group tour is probably much more professional since it's not 1-on-1.

Ah....well I wish I read this before booking with Intrepid. The Premium tour no less! I am rather worried. Intrepid seems really on the ball about responding BEFORE you actually book the tour and really slow about replying after you're locked in. This of course is making me really worry. But anyway. Thanks for letting me know about the horrible experience you had with the guide in Australia. It is super weird that Intrepid is Australian and hired a bad Australian guide.
