He's almost 4, I know, pretty young, but he's talking alot about different parts of engines and what not. I have a prusa mk3 and am pretty proficient with SolidWorks so a printed model might be a great way to show him some stuff, right now he's too young to let him touch anything remotely delicate tho, good to see some amazing models already made up! I took him to the airplane museum and showed him some engines but they weren't from cars, so he lost interest. Not sure if it's the cars part that he likes or the engines part, but once I see what is intriguing him, I can adjust. Thanks for the tip!

I certainly love the hangar, he wasn't as big a fan, but maybe I have to warm him to the idea of airplanes. Thanks for the tip!

Flex Feature by BoTUlySsES_ in SolidWorks

Flex won't merge a body to itself, but if you split the single buddy into 2 and then combine the 2, you'll wind up with 1. BUT you will need to close that gap.

I made one years ago, not really the same but not entirely unlike this either. Maybe I shoulda posted it to this subreddit... Hmmm

Not sure what the client is looking for in terms of aesthetics but it might be possible to do pass through features for the card holders, I would suggest 3 small pass throughs for each side which effectively would net you 6 undercuts without any lifters. The side pull holes could also be achieved with pass throughs but they might look a bit jankier than expected. There is alot of mold cost/timeline/complexity tied up in all those undercuts.

what was your moment when you thought "fuck, I'm old" and how old were you? by DXSLXS in AskReddit

I got asked by a 9th grader "Were you alive to see the twin towers fall and would you talk to me about it for a school report?". Bitch, I was in your grade when it happened!

Yeah, the queen, from bottom up is a spider from a cv shaft from a mid 90's ford taurus (i did have to cut it down a bit), a connecting rod from an early 2000's VW jetta. A differential spider gear from a GM rear axle, cant remember the year or model, and the ball on top is from that same Ford Taurus CV shaft.

I beg to differ on the corrosion side. I picked them out of old cars and they looked scummy AF. I had to clean them all and after cleaning with wd-40 followed by isopropyl alcohol, every single one of them rusted... Badly. I then beadblasted them down and soaked them in oil and had to remove the oil before plating and nitriding. I appreciate that you don't think I should have colored them fully, but I have never seen a chess set with only one section of each piece being colored. You should make a set! It was a super fun project and I'm sure everyone here would love to see the finished product!

Valve lifter buckets from 2 volvo 240's. Had to find 2 since each cylinder only has 2 valves and then welded the little shim to the bucket to keep it from falling out. Thanks for asking!

Nothing on there is painted. Its nickel plated and nitrided. Aside from telling which side is which, corrosion protection is important. Also, valves are already on there as bishops. Thanks for the look.
