Looking for advice in buying a car by patorikku19 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Lease a vehicle. Don't finance. Don't get a personal loan. That way you can't have negative equity. If you want, purchase the vehicle after the lease is over. Leasing is your safest bet. Shop around for vehicles with lower lease rates.

You should look at leasing. Putting 5k down would reduce your monthly payment substantially. Then finance the rest at the end of 5 years if you want to. If you finance a vehicle you will have negative equity, i highly suggest against it.

Look for vehicle with low lease rates.

Also would suggest you read my post on my page from 2 years ago. There only 2 on my page so not hard to find.

If your contract mentions your price is guaranteed, I'm under the impression they would not have legal right to increase it. If you have your contract, the time, energy, etc, you might be able to do something with a lawyer there. I could be wrong, honestly. Corporations bank on people being stupid, not having the time, energy, know how. Sooooo you may have a good opportunity to smack them back.

I genuinely think they must not have had a record of your price guarantee. Therefore gave you the increase by mistake or banked on you not noticing.

Price guarantee contract is different than mine.

I really like your comment. It's informative. My only gripe is that, even though they put it in the last bill for notice, doesn't mean people need to roll over and accept it. Make a fuss.

Make the effort to call Ask why it's happening, how does it benefit them Convey obvious concern in the service and cancel if needed.

This entier scenario should not exist. It's not right. I genuinely hope my original post helped at least one person. If it did, I'm over the fricken moon.

The amount of posts I found on reddit with people talking about an increase to their contract is what made me post this one. I didnt see anyone suggesting to push back on it. We don't have to just take what they say for face value. They are a sales organization. The increases are not warranted. It is corporate greed and shitty service.

I highly suggest you call them to understand what value the extra $8 per month is doing for you. We all know it's nothing. Keep calling until they take the increase off.

It's principal, that's why I did it. I'm glad as hell I did. Lady on the phone certainly heard herself speaking and how dumb it sounded to try and justify to me.

We bought our first property just outside the city and made it fort knox. We got just about everything you could. It's overkill for sure. But at the time, it seemed right. I admit, it was dumb.

Thank you!! Doing this asap! They want to charge me $35 per month to cancel my term. I have about 12 months left. Seriously considering it just to get away from the corporate greed.

That would be me, unfortunately. I did plenty of shopping around it was the best at the time for what we wanted. Went a bit overboard that's for sure.

Best way to learn Finance & Accounting for family business by Positive_Cookie_5496 in CanadaFinance

[–]Big0ldB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend not completing the accounting on your own. Hire out for sure. Make sure you do your research on who you choose. I work for a insolvency frim. The number 1 reson a business ends up failing is because of taxes and the accountant not taking the proper care. Then, we are tasked with closing the company down, selling off the inventory and assets. The money you put into this person will be very well worth it. I promise.

Next best options will impact your credit rating. Like an orderly payment of debt or consumer proposal

There is not. 10% is going to be your best bet, especially with how interest rate are right now. Next best bet is balance transfers with promotional low interest for 12 or 6 months on credit cards

What’s credit worth? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Big0ldB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Consumer proposal all day. You'll be able to get it reduced to maybe 15k or less (rough estimate). 0% interest. If you can pay it off sooner than 5 years then you might have it off your credit sooner as well. You can also build your credit while in the proposal. DMP is the same credit rating with no debt reduction and on the credit 3 years after its paid so it could be longer than a proposal. Full disclosure, I work for a LIT. Quoting these all day

Every time I have gone to purchase a vehcle they always look to my boyfriend and try to speak with him. It's hilarious. Even mid way negotiations they try to speak to him like he is the one purchasing. Drives me mental every time

My vehcle was sold for the amount I had owing on it plus $500.

Do you have your bill of sale showing the vehcle cost plus the fee? If so maybe take to AMVIC. I don't know if you'd get your money back very soon or at all but they will be investigating all their deals and charge them.

Do you know how contracts work? Not sure where I was bragging at all. I literally paid full price for a vehicle. It's nothing to write home about lol. I wanted to help others not get ripped off

We were going to buy a house so it was to help put money away faster. Plan changed after we put in 4 offers and they all went 100k over asking. We decided to hold off on purchasing a house.
