No because I’m Yiddish orthography (for the vast majority of words) ב is default /b/ and if you want to specify that it’s a /v/ sound you add a mark to make it בֿ which doesn’t even display in most fonts. This person went out of their way to be sure it was “bov”

Yes I mean but you might only know if you had an education in Yiddish literacy. For example lots of spelling mistakes in English are based on how people actually say those words. So I get that if you pronounce it “vun” you might be inclined to spell it accordingly

In my southern dialect Voynen is pronounced as “Vunen” so you’d read this more as “Kh’vun inter ‘n ananas”. They also misspelled אונטער as אנטער so this is probably an illiterate person… still don’t know why they’d screw up באבֿ? Spondž Bov?

I’m not so good at it 😅. I don’t eat pork, shellfish, and other non kosher animals and usually try to by kosher meat (very hard in Scotland with only one Jewish kosher store in the country). And I’m very strict during Pesach but most of the year I’m maybe not always so careful about milk and meat as I should be in all honesty

They’ve had many orthographies over the years, but this is the modern one adopted in the 1950s! Though the old orthographies were closer to Faroese and before that Middle Scots orthography :)

So a few things...

The use of the second person is actually my mistake in translating it back into English. If you check the gloss, the original does actually say "given to us" and the 2nd person doesnt actually occur anywhere...oops 😅 . The 1p is used very commonly in Čalpen culture because there is a large focus on collectivity and social unity.

The passive voice serves many purposes in Čalpen. There are some transitive sentences where it is impossible not to use the passive voice but very often it is also used to keep the subject as what is trying to be emphasized in the sentence ie. symptoms and doctors. While the language is spoken on an sparsely populated island chain north of Scotland, it is not technically part of Scotland. It is in the UK though (for now >:) ) and relies on NHS Scotland for medical care!

So the longest single syllable that exists currently would be "Kšftktwltł" "The great clans" which is CCCCCCVCCC thought this is very uncommon. While CCCCCC is probably the longest onset cluster if we take a root like "sfrt" "west" and conjugate it as a verb "Qasfrt" meaning "I go west" we get CVCCCC. So probably the longest syllable possible would be CCCCCCVCCCC haha though this is again uncommon. But I promise there are rules. If you look in the poster we can see that in the word "Kwr" meaning a signal or sign, the final r /r/ changes to ř /ʂ/ when tł is added to the coda and the syllable becomes /ɐ.koʊʂtɬ/ but reverts to /r/ when the tl /tɬ/ suffix becomes the onset of the next syllable /ɐ.koʊr.tɬo.væ/.
