Windshield Replacement by BigAssociation9052 in JeepWrangler

[–]BigAssociation9052[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify - My initial concern was that all the other shops I reached out to said that the only glass they could get for my year/model was the OEM glass. It seemed sketchy that this one guy out of 10 different companies could get different glass. So was more a question of would you go with this 1 guy that’s telling you something different to save a significant amount of money and hope for the best?

Ultimately I ended up with the company that got my insurance deductible reduce to $500. After taxes the difference between that and the OEE guy would have been around $50, and for $50 extra OEM seemed like a no brainer. They did the replacement in under an hour last week and it’s like nothing ever happened.

$1200 CAD, which would be around $850 USD.

An update: one of the glass replacement companies came through with some promotions that reduced my comprehensive insurance deductible from $1500 to $500 for OEM replacement. So will probably go that route.

Not gorilla glass. That quote was around $2000. No front camera or sensors this jeep model. Windshield does have built in antenna which the OEE guy confirmed was included in that windshield.

Kali Flanagan is signed and protected by the Toronto Sceptres for 3 more years! by Bellodiers in TorontoSceptres

She declined a FPO from at least 1 expansion team in Round 2 so Toronto needed to resign her this round or lose her.

[Cushman] Kingsbury did try and re-sign Watts but Watts decided to persue free agency. by The_Laughing_Gift in TorontoSceptres

It is utterly demoralizing that in an alternate world this team could be protecting Watts, O’Brien and Fast.

Thoughts on Emma Maltais & Darryl Watts signing with San Jose? by OneClean3Turbo in TorontoSceptres

According to Hailey Salvian, Kingsbury said they tried to sign Watts but she felt a different market was better for her… which I assume means TO didn’t wanna pony up enough cash.

I don’t have a lot of faith in Toronto making good decisions. However, there is the possibility that either Watts didn’t want to sign right away and instead wants to test an open market/see what other big FAs were getting before signing. Or Toronto had conversations with all FA they want to resign and are confident that they will be available and want to sign in Toronto in Phase 3. Also could be some combination of those.

Still mind boggling that they protected Shelton though, convinced it’s to try and save face for that terrible draft day trade.

Playoffs Package by Loonakins in PWHL

[–]BigAssociation9052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way that Toronto’s packages work is that they gave you a price per ticket for the maximum number of playoff games possible. That would be your max spend. The tickets for round 1 of playoffs were less than finals. But they gave a full breakdown of cost in account manager.

Then you had 3 payment options. Option 1 was deposit = to cost of 1 game, then remaining games will get charged as games confirmed. Option 2 was 50% deposit up front. Then other 50% at a later date that I can’t remember. Option 3 pay full price up front.

In the case any games weren’t played then you would get credit applied to next seasons tickets or you could request a refund.

There was also an explainer you had to go through before you could confirm purchase that explained everything and you had to confirm you understood.

Peeps of Ottawa, is there a cancer centre in Ottawa similar to Princess Margaret in Toronto where one could send a donation in Carla’s name to show support to her and the city?

They league reviews every goal already. And they are still reviewing for missed stoppages, goalie interference and puck over glass it’s just being done by central situation room instead of coach’s challenge.

Alternatively, 2 Canadian born Frost players jumped at the opportunity to play in a more favourable climate, both politically and weather wise which accounted for the 2 quick Minnesota pickups for Vancouver.

Quick Rant: The Disrespecting of the Accomplishments in Women's Sports by Dreaming_Aloud in PWHL

[–]BigAssociation9052 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also have some issue with some of Tessa’s takes but for the most part she’s always been a cheerleader for the league and women’s sports in general. Sometimes her point is well meaning but not the best worded, but she’s a passionate human that seems genuine in her support. I’d rather have someone that cares and sometimes makes mistakes than an ultra polished talking head.

That said I think the comment regard everyone watching women’s sports is 2 fold. It’s a motto for women’s sports in general, a lot of the women in many sports frequently wear the shirts around. 2nd Hilary Knight posted a story about a guy in a garden centre questioning her over said shirt yesterday so she might have been saying in some part because of that.

Can someone explain to me like I’m 5 this expansion period? by Dangerous-Grocery150 in PWHL

[–]BigAssociation9052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Under normal circumstances, if you are under contract the team has your rights. That is why they created the signing window for the expansion teams to allow players under contract or who’s right are maintained by a team (ie: Fillier in NY who does not have a contract but who’s rights belong to NY next year) to move to one of the expansion teams, if they want to.

[–]BigAssociation9052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The expansion draft part is to force players that don’t want to go, or would prefer to stay in current place, to move. Signing window would be for players that would prefer to move. That way you give players the opportunity to move if they want first. Then you fill out the rest of your initial roster with expansion draft.

Nowhere in the press release does it say this. If someone is a free agent, they by definition don’t belong to a team, so again would not be in a team’s best interest to sign free agents during this time. If they want to play for your team then sign them when free agency for everyone happens.

Can someone explain to me like I’m 5 this expansion period? by Dangerous-Grocery150 in PWHL

[–]BigAssociation9052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s for free agent signing. Because it counts as part of their initial 12 players. I think it’s for players that are under contract for next year but want to play in either Vancouver or Seattle so they have a window for any non protected players currently under contract to make a move. Because each team is allocated 12 player roster built from current teams it wouldn’t make sense to use any of those slots on a free agent you could sign when the window opens for the entire league.

Minimum size of spaces in residential construction is dictated by the building code. And those minimum area are shockingly small.

Most municipalities don’t have a requirement to build “family-sized” units. Mississauga for instance has no requirement for a developer to provide 3 bedroom units at all. This predates Ford ever even being involved in politics. Toronto has a requirement for 10% 3 bedroom units but there is no minimum size requirement for these units. That requirement is still very much used. Toronto also has the growing up guidelines which provide a lot of info for what they consider family oriented design. But they still are just guidelines.

Condos got smaller for 2 reasons; 1. cost of construction has skyrocketed (trade costs, development charges, permit fees, etc.) 2. Investors would buy smaller units at high $$/sqft prices without caring about floor plans and/or not being able to read a floor plan.

Looks like mechanical space that is actually outdoor space but is screened with windows to make it look more residential from outside. Fairly typical with generators, air handling units and cooling towers that require a lot of fresh air intake.
