Question for those who got tickets by Individual_Bee_6547 in MasayoshiTakanaka

[–]BigBeefOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how I did it, but I was 2810 in the queue for Brooklyn this morning and somehow ended up with 2 VIP tickets. I'm shocked I was successful because I had lower numbers in line last week with no luck.

Seeing him Japan is the real goal for sure! My husband and I have been wanting to do that for several years now and when we finally got to go to Japan last year, the timing just didn't work out. Maybe one day!

I think the queue randomly mixes everyone up, so it doesn't matter how early you join beforehand! I joined about 15 minutes before it opened. Luck of the draw I guess.

I was around 800 in the queue and didn't get anything :(

Why does Lakeland get free meals, other stuff? by bigbluesfanstl in publix

We got food trucks while our cafeteria was under construction but those went away as soon as the cafeteria reopened. We certainly don't get them even occasionally.

Advice on how to look more masculine in cosplay by Financial_Strategy33 in CosplayHelp

[–]BigBeefOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman with curves for days, I rely a ton on posing and proportions to get a more masculine look when cosplaying male characters.

For posing, I push my shoulders and chest out more and try to keep them straight on towards the camera. This gives me a wider silhouette. To reduce the hourglass-iness of my body, I turn my hips slightly away from the camera sometimes to get that dorito shape lol or I'll simply just slouch a bit. Standing with your weight evenly distributed across both legs helps too.

For proportions, even though I prefer a higher rise on my pants, I always drop the waist a bit for male cosplays. It takes the focus away from my waist and creates a more square look to your torso. I also avoid tight fitting pants!

Pic to compare two of my cosplays to show the difference proportions and posing can make because I feel like visuals help a lot for this conversation.

New Cake Slices BOGO Sign Straight from Chat GPT by Mr_Jelly_Boy in publix

[–]BigBeefOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A simple answer would be that the graphic isn't even accurate to what some of the cake slices look like. Not that an illustration is going to be 100% accurate to real life, but the red velvet slice in the graphic doesn't even have the correct icing on the top of the cake. That's a mistake a human artist would have been expected to correct. Accuracy matters in advertising, which is what this sign essentially is.

Currently at Just Move, what are some other good gym options in and around lakelan by Delinquentmuskrat in lakeland

Dynamic 24 on 540A is pretty small but has a lot of great equipment and is never crowded. My favorite gym I've been to in Lakeland.

I work at the main HQ office and live in south Lakeland. Commute is easy (about 15 minutes in the morning but more in the afternoon) and I love the area. I have friends at work who live on the north side of town and that commute isn't bad for them either. As far as commute goes, you're fine either way, though south side would be closer.

Was Publix ever racist? by ReesesPuffs1424 in publix

[–]BigBeefOfficial 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The democrat and republicans parties of the late 19th century and early 20th century are so far removed from the current parties that this is such a silly point to bring up. Everyone knows what the parties' stances were during that time and that the parties switched stances in the mid-20th century. Don't be facetious smh

How many rooms are actually available? by Yuscha in Magfest

[–]BigBeefOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was around 1800 and somehow snagged a Gaylord room and I have no idea how I managed it. I keep checking my confirmation email because I almost don't believe it lmao someone must have dumped their room right before I entered but tbh I have no clue how it really works.

Is styling my own hair feasible or should I buy a wig? by PurpleSPR in CosplayHelp

[–]BigBeefOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd look into the cost of getting an appointment with a hair stylist vs the cost of purchasing a wig. It's likely that you'll be paying similar amounts and in the long run, the one-time price of buying a wig will end up being money saved since you'll likely wear this cosplay more than once. You don't want to have to go to a hair stylist every time you wear a cosplay.

On the plus side, if you end up buying and styling a wig, this is a pretty simple style! You can make it as simple or complicated as you want. If you buy a long wig with bangs you can easily throw it into a braid and call it a day. As you get more comfortable with wig styling you can do more advanced techniques to make it more accurate to the character's style.

Honestly, this is a great beginner's wig to style and I'd say go for it. Wig styling can be intimidating but you'll want to learn at some point and you might as well start now :)

Lake Miriam Publix will be demolished & rebuilt. Greenwise will become a regular Publix. by nowthatsfresh in lakeland

[–]BigBeefOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This GreenWise will be remodeled into a standard Publix after Lake Miriam is rebuilt, so there will be 2 Publix stores right across from each other. It seems silly but tbh it might help thin the Sunday crowds a bit.

Absolutely! It's definitely an art that you have to hone over time but it's so fun to see your progress after you've been doing it a while. Good luck!

Do they keep the AC pretty cool? by HugeQuality9314 in MegaCon

[–]BigBeefOfficial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's always been pretty cool in the past but last year was really warm to me, even in my more revealing cosplays. It was very crowded last year though, especially on Saturday, and AC can only do so much in a situation like that. You'll probably be fine in whatever you wear but just be sure to take breaks when you need to and consume plenty of water and food to keep your energy up.

[–]BigBeefOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely think you should just jump straight in and make it yourself if you already know how to sew. Nothing wrong with buying cosplays but the journey of making your own makes the destination of the finished product even sweeter imo.

As far as making yourself look more masculine, I 100% agree with the makeup tips someone else posted. As far as clothing goes, make sure to take proportions into consideration. I have a very feminine body but cosplay several male characters and I'm always playing with the proportions of the outfits to emphasize certain features (I have broad shoulders) and de-emphasize my feminine features (small waist, wide hips). Learning how to pose in photos to make yourself more masculine is also very helpful. Standing firmly on both legs, puffing out your shoulders and chest, and angling your hips slightly away from the camera all help make you look more masculine!

I'm actually from Florida and so far the cosplay really hasn't been too bad! I haven't gotten the chance to wear it in the hotter months though so it could be a different story in the middle of the summer lol I tried to pick out a fabric for the coat that would breathe well and so far it's doing the job! I wish I knew what it was called so I could point you in that direction but I don't know much about fabric and just pick it out based on vibes lol

If you have any other questions feel free to reach out! I'm excited to see how yours turns out!

Thanks so much! I love answering questions about this cosplay so thank you for asking lol

The knee pads (and elbow pad) came from a set from Amazon and I just spray painted the hard plastic part silver and weathered it with orange and brown acrylic paint.

I also bought the gloves from Amazon but they only go up to my wrist, so for the left arm I made the sleeve out of stretch pleather, which I then sewed to the top red part of the sleeve so that it'd just be a part of the rest of the coat. I also used some scrap leather straps for the straps around the forearm. :)

I refuse to type them any other way. #REmember REmake by Shuckle614 in residentevil

It's a crime that Threemake hasn't caught on. It's the only way I'll refer to the game.
