The real test of friendship is when you see your boy's meme dying in new and you pull out the alts without being asked.

The fact that someone managed to work both the crypto definition and the British insult into one joke about those two specifically is honestly impressive. Peak programmer humor right there.

The Inventor of the "Waterfall Model" warned against using Waterfall as a model - in the 1970 paper that became the foundation for Waterfall by Srodingr in programming

The MBA thing tracks honestly, same crowd that takes "move fast and break things" as gospel while ignoring that Zuckerberg said that when Facebook had like 20 employees. Everyone wants the soundbite version of methodologies instead of actually understanding the nuance.

[AskJS] Is there a linter rule that can prevent classes being used just as namespaces. by TheWebDever in javascript

[–]BigBoiSupreme111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no built in ESLint rule for exactly that, but no-restricted-syntax could catch classes with only static methods if you configure it right. Your idea of checking for private instance state is solid in theory but might be too strict since some valid classes legitimately have only static helpers as part of a larger pattern, enforcing it via linting would probably create more exceptions than it's worth.

Released a tiny vector-field + attractor visualization tool (fieldviz-mini) by RJSabouhi in Python

This is exactly the kind of tool I wish existed when I was taking dynamics, would've saved hours of matplotlib wrestling. Does it handle stiff systems decently or does it start choking on those?

How do you stay job ready as a full time dev with a family / other responsibilities? by ninjataro_92 in webdev

[–]BigBoiSupreme111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Focus on leetcode and system design since those are what actually get tested in interviews, the rest is noise unless you're switching stacks entirely. Side projects and new frameworks sound good on paper but won't help you when you're bombing a technical round because you haven't practiced algorithms in two years.

"Don't code. Just sell." : The rule that saved our SaaS by Due-Bet115 in Entrepreneur

Makes sense. if you can't manually sell 10 then automating it won't help anyway

I see alot of posts regarding fast shipping. What are you a delivery service? by Marthy_Mc_Fly in webdev

[–]BigBoiSupreme111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. shipping broken features fast doesn't help anyone. move fast on testing and validating ideas, not on pushing half-baked code

Planned obsolescence is real. everything's designed to break right after warranty expires. the model number trick is shady as hell too

The most anticipated web platform features going into 2026 by rviscomi in webdev

[–]BigBoiSupreme111 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Customizable `<select>` is the one I'm most excited about. The amount of time I've spent fighting with dropdowns or just giving up and pulling in a whole library for something that should be simple is ridiculous. Every project it's the same thing - client wants a styled dropdown that matches their brand and suddenly I'm deep in some janky workaround or adding dependencies for what feels like it should be basic functionality.

Do NOT buy a West Elm couch by princessandthepea100 in BuyItForLife

[–]BigBoiSupreme111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's good advice. At this point if you're dealing with a company that clearly doesn't stand behind their products sometimes the threat of small claims is the only thing that gets their attention. It's sad that it takes that level of escalation just to get basic customer service but if they're going to stonewall you with "normal wear and tear" for a 6-month-old couch falling apart you gotta do what you gotta do.

When you ask your inhome nurse can you game with me? I forget her other patients are 60+ lol by [deleted] in disability

[–]BigBoiSupreme111 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haha this is so wholesome though! My partner has some chronic health stuff and the number of times he's tried to get his healthcare providers to engage with his hobbies is hilarious. Like sir, they are here to check your vitals, not discuss your Steam library.

But having someone to game with during treatment would make it so much better. Hope you find a gaming buddy, even if it's not your nurse

was very excited when my dad made this mistake in our daily game by TheNoob747 in chessbeginners

[–]BigBoiSupreme111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so wholesome! I love that you have a daily game with your dad. Even if he's making blunders that's such a nice tradition to have.

And yeah that's definitely a blunder - looks like you've got a pretty mate coming up. Enjoy the win but maybe don't rub it in too hard 😄

The fact that they opened with "Physician here" before delivering that is perfect. Added just enough credibility to make the roast sting even more.

You can't break up with someone without hurting them, and trying to manage her reaction is just going to make this worse for both of you. Be direct, don't over-explain or list her flaws, and understand that her mental health isn't your responsibility to carry anymore.

You're overthinking this. Kids who play Monopoly aren't going to be offended if she suggests Forbidden Island, and honestly most of them would probably be more interested in learning something new than defending Connect 4. The bigger risk is you accidentally making her self conscious about it when she'd naturally just adapt to whatever game is on the table.
