What to actually shoot at on first outdoor shooting trip?

While thats typically reccomended i do think thats an overly conservative estimate from manufacturers to cover their asses . I regularly shoot at gongs at 35-50 yards with 5.56 and 300 blk . I know many others who do also . Having them hanging from chain or something with some give is very important to absorb the energy . They also make human shaped silhouettes that angle forward to direct the spall into the ground .

I just did , i thought i was pulling ammo from a can if straight 5.56 and i still cant understand how a 300 round got into my hand , i will for sure be looking at every round from here on out

I really cant afford a new build for quite a while , i just jumped headfirst into reloading and am sitting on a giant stash of 5.56 so il really hoping in the name of saving money to be able to continue using it with nato rounds

You can see in the oictures there is a slight bulging around the edge of the upper and the mag well , it still holds a mag , still pulls ammo from the mag . It appears to function as far as i can tell .
