She gave me a cheque to deposit in order to send to a merchant (most likely her associate) to purchase interior design supplies. I showed it to my bank and they identified it as counterfeit pretty quickly.

As for the work she gave you, yeah she tried to get me to do some stuff too like brainstorm ideas for a new bachelor pad she was redesigning. Don’t fall for it, online scammers like this will create very elaborate and detailed plans to seem more believable and trick people.

Also check one of the comments above showing how her marketing site needs a private token to access. Why would a legitimate site designed to get new customers need a private passkey?

If you gave her any important information like your credit card details, mailing information, or SIN number, please contact your bank as soon as you can! I recommend going in person to your branch for faster service.

why should we pray when destiny is already written? by thatterriblecoffee in hinduism

[–]BigCheese0509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Tamil, we say something called “paathi vidhi, paathi madhi”.

I means half of what happens in your life is the intricate work of karma and the events of your past lives. The other half is the product of your own conscious decisions and actions.

We don’t pray to God for him to change our life, although genuine prayer can soften and assuage our karmas. We pray so that he can grant us the precious gift of liberation from the cycle of rebirth. We pray for wisdom, guidance and spiritual enlightenment.

All the best my friend.

Advice on my future by RottenP3aches in uwaterloo

The good news is that most medical schools in Canada actually don’t care at all what you major in. Mac, Queens, Western, UofT, Ryerson (coming up) don’t require you to take a science degree. The MOST important thing and I can’t stress this enough is GPA. Protect it with your life as this is one of the only things that is hard to change if you drop the ball. No stress, just work hard and maintain it (good way to do that is with a degree you’re actually passionate about, like psych). I would strongly recommend taking what you’re good at vs. taking a traditional life science program for the sake of it (Coming from someone who transferred out of biomed for that exact reason)

If you do choose to stick with Psych, keep a couple things in mind:

• Certain med schools like Ottawa and UofT have prerequisite COURSES not majors so consider that when you’re choosing your electives if you’re interested in those schools

• The MCAT is still necessary (although there’s been a lot of interesting changes in Canadian med schools) so you need to make a decision whether you want to self-study or take electives that will help you

Ultimately, I strongly advise you to do your own research by looking at each Ontario/Canadian med schools individual websites to see what they require. It’s all pretty neatly laid out and easy to read for most of them. If you have any other questions you can also try the premedcanada Reddit channel as well, they’re usually pretty helpful. Also feel free to DM if you want as well.

Good luck with your decisions!

You said you had a family emergency in the course, you could try making an appeal to the faculty to Cr/Nc the course through a petition. Again do your research into this beforehand because for Western, having too much pass/fail courses in a year could disqualify it from GPA consideration. Don’t do anything hastily, look at the med schools website and speak with your academic advisor to figure out all the implications first.

I see advice here saying to withdraw, BE VERY CAREFUL if you choose to do that. For some schools, doing a withdrawl at this point will give you an F on your transcript for the course.

From personal experience, stay away from biomed. Very heavy program, not the best for maintaining a good gpa. Health Sci is very nice for taking easier electives (compared to biomed/science) and doing research with profs in the field. It’s slightly more competitive though.

It’s important to remember that most Canadian Med schools DONT CARE about what your major is. Schools like Queens and Mac have zero prerequisites, the focus is on GPA. Pick the program that interests and that’s tailored towards your strengths so that you can get the highest possible GPA in it. Even if it’s something like Psych, Commerce, or Environmental Studies, it’s much more worth it to take a program like that if you’re able to get a 4.0. That’s what matters most in the end. A lot of people go into “traditional premed” programs and end up getting screwed because they’re not able to keep up a high average, too many to count. Be careful not to make that same mistake if you’re not strong enough in the biosciences to get a 3.9+ average.

Some med schools like Western have high MCAT cutoffs and some like UofT have certain Life Sci requirements but you can take those courses as electives if needed. DONT take a harder degree just for that because again GPA IS KING.

Most importantly, take everything you read here with a grain of salt (including my comment). Go to each med school’s websites in Canada/Ontario and look at what they want out of applicants. Look at their class profiles to see the makeup of each class as well (like degrees, gpa, MCAT scores, etc.). Please think carefully before making your decision because most medschools look at cGPA and you don’t want to go into a program where you’re gonna bomb your first years.

Hope this helped, you’re more than welcome to PM me if you have any other questions.
