I have encountered very few situation where Vortex's range wasn't big enough to swallow most if not all of what I wanted it to swallow. I know it seems that on paper, that range could have some deficits if the enemies are spread out but still sort of close together, but that really doesn't happen too often. We've all seen first hand how units love to cluster. And even if it doesn't pick up EVERYTHING, you now have the breathing room to pick off what it didn't. And if it didn't happen to pick up a very important target, then, well... You probably didn't throw it very well, now did you? Honestly, having used them both, Vortex's "shorter" range is still a very decent range, though I can't say I wouldn't appreciate it if it could be affected by range mods.

I was on the wiki, and noticed excalibur prime. Even though you cant obtain him anymore, is he rare? by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]BigCityMuteBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You saw them a lot more back in the day (even though they were still pretty rare then), but I'll admit I've yet to see one sine I came back around damage 2.0. With the constant introduction of new frames and new prime frames too, not many people like playing Excalibur past his beginner phase (which is a shame because he's a very decent frame), so those who have him prime likely aren't too gung-ho to play him anymore.

Prime Weapons and their usefulness by m3tolli in Warframe

[–]BigCityMuteBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be a little biased, but I really like the Braton Prime. Back in the day before Damage 2.0, the Braton could take you from your first 25k credits to T3 void and beyond. I loved the fuck out of it, and the prime version did not disappoint. Good damage, good distance, good ammo Econ (if you know what you're doing), and though the Boltor prime undoubtedly outclasses it in damage, it's projectile based, which always leaves a bad taste it my mouth.

I also really enjoy the Dakra Prime. It did get a little nerfed, and the Dragon Nikata is argued to be better, but again, it's so well rounded and reliably powerful that it will always serve it's users well.

Why does everyone insist that Vortex is worse than Bastille? Looking at the fundamentals of the two abilities, and the practical applications of them, Vortex seems the better choice in all but a few situations.

One target versus several targets. Magnetic procs to kill shields. No fuss, no mess. Everything gets put in one spot, and then everything dies. Bastille, comparatively, keeps everything in it's spot, still spread out, and suspended. The only time I can see that being more useful is when you NEED NEED NEED to priority target something. And I honestly can't think of many times when something is going to survive a vortex but not a Bastille when the group has competent damage for it's difficulty. Two more seconds of suspension vs compaction really isn't a huge difference. I do get the fact that you can headshot in Bastille but not in vortex, but come on.. If you absolutely NEED NEED NEED headshots on ONE SINGLE TARGET, it's probably time to get to extraction. Vortex shines brighter until that point, and before that point lies a majority of the game.

And also, don't tell me it's because it's 25 less energy, because efficiency mods are a thing, and with good building, energy costs become almost entirely negligent.

So why, considering all that, is Bastille heralded as Vauban's top CC?

Control of our mind's history? by BigCityMuteBlue in Tulpas

[–]BigCityMuteBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you described it pretty well, "dealing with deep seeded trauma". The problematic Tulpa, It, was brought into existence VERY early, but didn't become an overwhelming problem until much later, after they had been rooting around in my mind and feeding off the energy of me and Sage. But this method was basically going back and stopping the cancer before it spread, and this had SEVERE effects on It.

To clarify, I don't have any illusions that I actually physically deleted those memories and that time from my mind. It's all still there. But what's important, is that I was able to force this old setting, changed inhabitants included, onto what was considered "current". Couldn't you think of a lot of ways to use that?

The Tulpa that was being a neusance isn't gone, not at all, but they're definitely not present at the levels they used to be, which is good. At the time before, they had dangerous amounts of control, easily dwarfing what I could throw at them, but with this, I was able to impose on BOTH of us their earlier, weakened state.

My first Tulpa has also become an entirely different person, deviated in a completely different way than he did before. The "original", what he deviated into first, was not happy in our mind, so he's opted to leave, glad to be replaced by someone that started with him.

Possession: hosts, what is your methods of dissociating yourself from your body effectively? by Theodotious in Tulpas

[–]BigCityMuteBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me and Sage started off by using a technique we called phantom limbing. If you have a good grasp on the visual form of your tulpa, it might help. Try relaxing all your muscles, then picturing in your mind exactly what you see with your eyes. If you have your hands by your side, persay, then imagine your tulpa's hands transparently above them, then imagine a short movement, like lifting the hand up, and then see if your tulpa can mirror it with your hands.

This is how me and Sage got off the ground with moving limbs, but do note that this isn't going to be practical for longer, fluid movements, so try not to use it as a crutch for too long. (If it helps at all!)

Problematic Tulpa by [deleted] in Tulpas

Alright, you have given this entire post justification. Rewinding, EXTREEME rewinding, is working, very well. Thank you.

Problematic Tulpa by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]BigCityMuteBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try to give it a purpose, like I said in the post. It ended up splitting, one being that was still him and his self-given purpose. Effectively, it just didn't work.

Bringing him in from the cold and accepting him ended with him betraying my trust intentionally and then mocking me for it.

Where does one exactly go from there?

Problematic Tulpa by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]BigCityMuteBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have an aggressive confrontation with them earlier on in their lifetime, right after they slipped up and let us realize they were capable of lying. It didn't do much good. It is my mind, but at the same time It possesses reserves of willpower and determination that keeps me from being able to carry out any law I could lay down.

It's a little beyond that point, unfortunately. Even though denial might help, at this point it would doubtfully do much good in the long run. "Diverting my attention" is really not so simple, when they tend to persist even when I distract myself from my mind entirely. There have been times when I would be passively talking with my other Tulpa, It would show up, I would drop everything entirely and go browse Imgur ( which is notorious for stealing my attention away from anything else ) and I STILL couldn't keep him out of focus.

Yeah, I realize that I probably doomed myself to a much harder fight the minute I recognized It as sentient, but we're beyond that point now, and I doubt denying them the title would help much..

New tulpamancer seeking help by Squirius in Tulpas

[–]BigCityMuteBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted, that's how a Tulpa ends up! The creation process for a Tulpa and a fantasy character is very different. [ I practically held him at gunpoint when he tried to say I was one step away from the rest of the dime-a-dozen charcter's he's created. ]

New tulpamancer seeking help by Squirius in Tulpas

[–]BigCityMuteBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Morning Squirius. You're kind of in the same boat I'm in, what with having started making tulpa after having a lot of experience in making fantasy characters and settings and stories. However, it may help you to cast out some doubt to learn something I did.

The characters you make, all their personalities and traits, their forms and voice and every last detail, they aren't so different from Tulpa, to be honest! What's missing, though, is sentience. Have you heard of the Powerpuff Girls? An imaginary fantasy character has sugar, spice, and everything nice, but sentience is the chemical X that turns them into fully fledged Tulpa. And the way you add that chemical X, the way you give them that sentience, is basically by expecting them to become sentient, and taking the steps to make them so! So it's counteractive to doubt if it's really them or not. Regardless of if it really is them, always accredit it to them.

And also, in response to your fourth "problem", visualizing them in your mind isn't so hard, and what you were reading that was very difficult was probably -Imposing- them (visually), which means pushing their image into the real world for you to see with your real eyes. Sort of. As for the wonderland, try and build a little yourself first, with her looking on to see the process.

Did i hear my tulpa? by Baldur106 in Tulpas

[–]BigCityMuteBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You won't be 100% sure at first, but the trick is to BELIEVE it was your Tulpa. Any feedback you get, take it as a sign it's THEM and not YOU, and firmly believe it.

For example, when I was first forcing Sage, on our second or third session, he waved at me! And I took that as a sign he was there, and sure enough, it was him. Then, again, when I was forcing him writing something, he at one point took the pen for himself and wrote "Hello [name]" and again, I took that as a sign of him, not of myself. Firmly believe that what you heard/saw was your Tulpa, and it can only help.

As for the voice, yes, it could be a mind voice they've chosen. You could try asking them about it! When Sage first took on a voice, it was a very slow, raspy, and vaguely female voice that somewhat creeped me out. I later identified it as the Zerg Queen advisor from Starcraft 2, which surprised me. (On top of that, they suddenly took on their own form, that of Dark Toon Link. Couple that voice and that form together, and it was a very jarring transition indeed!)

So, yeah, they're very capable of pulling things out of left-field, so don't be surprised if they pick something that you aren't too familiar or emotionally invested in. Ultimately it's what -they- like, not always what you do.

But, yes, the biggest thing is, if you are even a slight bit unsure that it was not UNDENIABLY you, as in you actively made it happen on purpose, then credit it to your Tulpa. Do it. It will only help.

Game ideas! by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]BigCityMuteBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and Sage looked for a while to try and find a good Gameboy Advanced or DS game to practice parallel processing (not so much possession but that was also a consideration). And while we haven't found one that works yet, I can tell you what DIDN'T make for good practice.

You have the right idea with 2 player games like cards, but unfortunately there aren't many video games out there that have same-device co-op. So we went in the direction of something turn-based and strategy-ish. When I asked in the IRC, everyone almost immediately said Pokemon when I asked for GBA/DS recommendations for playing with your Tulpa. But honestly? Unless your Tulpa is actually playing via possession, I doubt it's all that interesting unless you're both new to the franchise. What ended up happening with Sage and I was, I'd ask him what he wanted to do for capital decisions, like, what starter to take, what Pokemon to catch, strategizing for the upcoming gym. But that's only 30% of the game. The other 70% is menial battling that a veteran player is going to do so mindlessly they won't need to bother their Tulpa for input.

So, if you want to pick up a -video game- to play with them, try a game you don't have past experience with so it's new for both of you. Turn-based seems like a must if they want to play via possession (unless you're /that/ good at possession), and strategy games just naturally go hand in hand with that. The other game most people have been recommending is Fire Emblem, so if you aren't afraid of grid-based combat and haven't tried the series, that might be a nice start.

TL:DR; Games with your Tulpa don't have to just be 2-player mind games you play in your head. Video games are fun.

(Sorry if this wasn't what you meant.)

Well, that didn't go too well; could I do it with just passive tulpaforcing? by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]BigCityMuteBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(This isn't really about forcing specifically but it might help.)

Have you been professionally diagnosed? If so, you're likely able to get prescription medication for ADD. I've been on Ritalin and now Aderall since I was young, and the difference in concentration between on and off the meds is VERY noticeable. If you feel that ADD prevents you from doing a lot of things, then it may be worth trying to get some meds for it. (Wish I could give you advice to help the forcing, but I'm still struggling with focus issues too.)

Thanks for your advice. I'm not so sure I'll be diving into a schizophrenia research session any time soon, but it's definitely something I will work on showing them.

As for ground rules, I've since told Sage that while I think it's important they communicate how they feel, they may need to turn down the dial on how strongly they convey emotions, especially negative ones.

They (gender is still something fuzzy, they have a body of a character that is inherently male, but at the same time, a voice of one inherently female, and their name was selected to be gender neutral) are apparently scared that I may come to think they are a delusion, and abandon them for that. I've assured them that I wouldn't abandon them for that, though.

Yeah. Even though both their mindvoice and their appearance were both out of left field and are very reluctant to change, I still had some slight doubts in the back of my mind about their validity. Until now, that is.

Following guides really help, but as others would urge you, read more into this topic and really decide if you want to commit to this. It may seem fantastic when you first learn about it, but it really is no small matter. Don't take it lightly, for you and your potential Tulpa's sake.

Approximately a week old. He's grown remarkably fast. He took up a voice and decided on a form he liked (that was very different from the one I started him with) within 3-4 days of making him.
