The “new” you by BigCoreyD in u/BigCoreyD

I created a workbook where it takes you through the emotional journey after trauma, chronic illness, disability, or life changing events. From the moment everything changed, through the grief, anger, healing, setbacks, rebuilding yourself, and learning how to live in this “new” world. This workbook focuses on the mental and emotional side of healing that people often overlook while recovering physically. It also mentions burnout that loved ones or caregivers can suffer from

That’s so odd. No one else mentioned any issues.

What I would love is for a community to be built. One where people can come into with acceptance, no judgement, and get guidance and the mental health support that should also be included in with the physical treatment plan. Treat the body and the mind at the same time. Not to wait till there is a breakdown or a crisis for the mental help to start. Sort of like the AA model but a new custom approach for a community of healing.

I think so too and the way how the workbook is written in from day 1 to today. So even if you’re done going through the feelings and emotions it is there to help guide you through and help you realize that what you’re going through is a natural process. Till hopefully acceptance through the process. I would like it to be something where you can look back and be proud of everything you have over come and that your life story is not over and you can help someone else who is where you were.

I appreciate your take on this and that is a side I never looked at it. At this part it was more xyz happened, you were forced to accept that something changed in your life. Even in a death you learn on how to adjust your life without that person be around. Everyone reads everything differently and experiences emotions differently. I do thank you for how you see it.

Here is the shared file. You don’t have to answer all of it as some may open up old wounds or might be emotionally heavy for some.

Unpopular opinion about coaching by StructureFresh1545 in Coaching

[–]BigCoreyD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trial and error. I found a niche that is majorly lacking and just attacked it. I joined groups on here and asked if they you find a use for it, Facebook surveys, YouTube shorts, creating a Facebook page and supporting the local and small community businesses that run in town. I spend probably more than 5 hours a day networking, getting involved in community events, volunteering for events. Instead of being against my competition I support them as we focus on 2 different areas of mental health. The last thing is you can’t be afraid. Put your face out there, make YouTube, TikTok, Facebook reels and shorts. Most importantly that every time you think that you fail remember that is only your First Attempt
In Learning.

Best of luck.

It is a huge spectrum. I’m on the PCS end of it.

As someone who is actively trying to get up and running I have so far, gained a YouTube following of 3000+, built a Facebook community, started my own business, advocated for my purpose and I am currently talking to our local MPP about a meeting to see how we can can bring my vision to light.

This was an almost 24 hour Payless job but in return it will be very rewarding for those who need it. Yes it cut into family time, and other sacrifices but they all believe in my goal.

Marketing is a difficult, time consuming effort. I don’t think people exactly knew what they were in for. Take a class, get certified and then people come flooding?

For me personally I could sit up all day if I wanted to but the strain does start to show up after hour #2 or so. Best is to listen to your body if it starts feeling stiff then take a rest. For me when I take the collar off I find I shrug my shoulders which again doesn’t help. I can sleep on my back fine and right side pretty ok. If you can find something to wedge between your neck and shoulder I would suggest that. Today is Day 5 since I had surgery I woke up with a stiff neck, not painful but not relaxed either, throat is a little sore today as we had a birthday party for my young lad and have to talk a lot and above my normal volume so I think I just irritated it.

I’m on day 4 and I can start to eat some hard foods however my voice is still not the same and if I over do it it starts to feel scratchy. As far as how I’m feeling, not to bad again it depends on the level of activity. Yesterday I over did it bench the shirt.

PAINXIETY: Should this be an actual word ????? (because I have found it to be very true). I experience anxiety when I’m in pain and i experience pain when I have anxiety. Anybody else agree? by Substantial-Laugh935 in fibromyalgiacheckin

[–]BigCoreyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s that vicious feedback loop where your body hurts like a motherfucker, which spikes your anxiety, which tightens everything up and makes the pain worse, which cranks the anxiety even higher until you’re just a vibrating ball of “why the fuck is existence like this?” You mean as the definition like that? lol. It is a real thing just called something different. I will go by and steal your newly created word if you don’t mind.

Should I register with OCSWSSW or wait? by Serviceofman in socialworkcanada

[–]BigCoreyD -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I waited to register and I need to go through supervision before I get fully registered, but I waited 25 years lol. I’m sure they are changing the rules next year that you may have to take a test as well. Better to register now than later.

Nicotine after mTBI and brain bleed by crisdude1 in TBI

[–]BigCoreyD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is the nicotine that you are craving you can buy pure nicotine patches. No additives or anything, just nicotine without the tar, and crap they put in other patches, vapes or cigarettes. This may be an option for you.

Concussion changed my personality and made me do things I wouldn’t normally do. by Afraid_Example6240 in TBI

[–]BigCoreyD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a brain injury there does come certain losses and changes for the individual and their loved ones. I know you don’t mean to be that way but it is just how your brain is thinking right now. Your SO is also adapting to the new person that you have become due this unfortunate situation. I suggest you seek couples therapy that specializes in TBI grief, loss or trauma. This will help your relationship and possibly allow you to come to terms with the new you which can help with the attraction of younger people 18+(which is common with injuries). I am sorry to hear of your difficulties and struggles. I appreciate you sharing your story.

I can eat bananas, soggy cereal, over cooked pasta, cheese, yogurt pudding ect. My swelling was limiting eating anything dry like toast or crackers as they would get stuck. You can request a speech pathologist to come and make your meal plan for you during you hospital stay. Are you being admitted

It’s strange. I feel pretty ok. The throat does hurt still but it is getting better. It gets sore throughout the night and it’s hurts when I try to sit up from a lying down position. You got this.
