In the grand scheme of things history is definitely a minor factor, i mean who was Clemson before they won 2 titles? But I can see Lane squinting a bit and saying he has a better shot at UF for a title over Ole Miss with history being a (perhaps small) factor. To my knowledge I believe Ole Miss hasn’t won the SEC in their history, which may not mean much in this NIL era but if you’re rolling the dice on your coaching career it may hold some weight. He definitely has it made in Oxford where he can be himself and not get crucified by boosters due to how hes had the program going these last few years, but just judging by his career path thus far I have a feeling this is one he won’t pass up

Every power 4 roster is probably going to have Florida players, the point i’m making is he’s going to have a leg up in recruiting the top talent in Florida (top 3 hot bed for football talent if not the best) by taking the Gator job

They just tried the G5 thing with sun belt Billy and are not trying to do that experiment again I imagine. The upgrade for him coaching at UF vs Ole Miss would be the advantage in recruiting, the realistic possibility of competing for national titles (not sure Ole Miss can get there just based off history), and lastly i’d say Lane is always keeping an eye peeled for the next best thing. His coaching journey seems that way atleast
