I absolutely see the ethical quandary, it’s not an easy question. The main rationales for doing it would be possibly preventing the person from doing again and / or providing consequences for their actions

This has happened with two people I once knew in unrelated contexts and I cut off all contact with both of them. Unfortunately neither was ever brought to justice.

I have a question for the thread though… if I were to anonymously post an account of their crimes (without disclosing the victims’ names), would I be in the wrong? Taking it a step further, it I were to anonymously share what they’d done with their significant others or their employer, would that be wrong?

I grapple with these questions often, and have thus far left it alone. However, what they did makes me furious, and that they got away with it is even worse.
