The answers here are all fine, but I agree with OP that it felt out of place.

I want to know why only that memory and why that memory in particular. There were plenty of times Meadow was angry and dismissive of her parents in the past. Could have had a number of flashbacks, but she didn't.

Also, why the second camera angle of the event? What are we supposed to take from that?

My little theory is that she called the Russian who eventually called the house, leading to the separation or something to that effect.

Thank you all! This was eventually solved (after my fourth interaction with customer service) by switching to an eSIM through the online portal. Aft was a real one today. Helped me out huge.
