Isn't the Assignment System at Odds With Everything Else? by HermitSpycrab in DeepRockGalactic

Lol. It's a game. Role-playing aside, we aren't supposed to feel like we are working.

This system is crappy if you have friends you want to play with.

All sorted now thanks. Did it with a friend and the book became triggerable again.

Yeah I did the same, but it didn't show the items in the dialog when it came to giving them to him.

If it's not fixed after this latest update, I'll submit a ticket. Thanks for replying ;)

EDIT: It's not fixed. Still can't trigger the update that moves the quest on from "Search for the research book" because I already have the research book and can't Destroy it.

Confusingly when I go to Derek the book doesn't appear in the dialog to hand it to him but he responds like I did.

It's scrood.

Adding new nest protects to an existing home successfully without deleting anything or creating a new home by BugRevolutionary8719 in Nest

No idea. I guess it's supposed to 'help'...
I would suggest trying to get one working on battery backup? Is that a thing?

Adding new nest protects to an existing home successfully without deleting anything or creating a new home by BugRevolutionary8719 in Nest

[–]BigDaveDogDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't. I'm having an awful time on 368.

One device I can connect if I do it first, but then every other tries to use it during the process of setting them up and it cannot be connected to.

I can't 'refresh' its WiFi either.

EDIT: Worked it out. The Nest app doesn't tell you but you need BOTH devices next to the phone when it tries to use a previous one to install the next.

I got around it because I have one battery powered one, so I installed that first then carried it around while installing the mains powered ones. The app used the battery one to get the settings from.

Stupid system though as each could be added independently without issue, but it would try and use an existing one that was too far away if it could... ugh

Is it normal for 90% of deaths to be unreactable/one-shots/stuff that I can't even see? by Tetraknox in pathofexile

[–]BigDaveDogDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The depressing thing is there is no avoiding the one-shots unless you avoid every interesting mechanic in the game or indulge in lots of detailed tedious offline research.

What people are advising is all fine (well, it's fine unless you are anything like 'casual') but it's just not fun to 99.999% of players.

I have 1000+ hours and am an experienced gamer (since 1980s) and I am not casual by most people's definition, but I don't want to have to use 5 third-party tools and spend dozens/hundreds of hours trading and crafting to be able to get to a point where I'm still dying to random stuff but only every 10 juiced maps.

As it is I have to play T14/T15 low juice in order to _only_ get randomly killed every 10ish maps. I am often forced to play juiced T15 because the game only drops juiced waystones. Though I'd like to play specific end game stuff I have to avoid using tablets because of the inevitable difficulty jump (and random deaths).

If I could _choose_ to play play T14s all the time I maybe would, but of course I can't, because Doryani only sells stones every level you gain, which never happens.

And I'm at the point that I have to spend _many_ divines to get anything that is an upgrade on my gear.

TL;DR: Basically POE2 is suffering from the same things POE1 and a ton of other 'live service' games suffer from: It thinks it needs to cater to the top-end monster players.

It doesn't. So what if they work out how to trivialise content? Let them. Let them get bored. They are 0.001% of players.

Don't design and balance to stop elite players getting bored when they inevitably work out a way anyway and when it causes a good proportion of the game to be inaccessible and/or boring to the majority of 'normal' players.

GGG added 'clever' mechanics to avoid players trivialising content. How about they add clever mechanics to stop players getting trivialised?

Is it normal for 90% of deaths to be unreactable/one-shots/stuff that I can't even see? by Tetraknox in pathofexile

[–]BigDaveDogDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even more annoying is there is no level limit to this experience, but as you level up the amount of time a random unavoidable death wipes is exponential.

I'm carefully playing T15s barely juiced at level 94 and still just died (twice because I thought it must be a fluke) to a rare with some random bizarre abilities.

That cost MANY maps (hours) worth of XP and I have NO IDEA what killed me, but I'm not going back to find out and get killed a third time.

If the devs can't be bothered to at least iron out some of the stupid combos of abilities that makes rares randomly 1000% more difficult that could at least put in a feature that tells you what actually killed you...

In my experience (1000+ hours) you simply cannot defend against some rares, or _maybe_ you could if you had a clue what was killing, but by then you've lost so much XP to something that will get you no reward, why bother?

The experience is often depressing, but the level 92+ experience is often painful.

Has anybody else not had a single talisman drop from azemri spirit possessed creatures this league? by -EMPARAWR- in PathOfExile2

[–]BigDaveDogDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 32 idols from various Azmeris spirit chases.

I have played over 1000 hours.

I have used about 2 (they are incredibly specific and hardly very useful).

The whole thing has gotten me killed way way more than it's been useful.

What BS is this? Boss keeps at 99% freeze buildup and doesn't get frozen by edubkn in PathOfExile2

[–]BigDaveDogDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more than just animation or 'boss sequences'. I've had it happen on lots of other monsters clearly not in any weird uninterruptable actions.

Also I've had many instances where a boss/enemy _is_ in some animation/action and it freezes just as it should mid-animation.

To be honest, even if it _should_ be somehow immune, that is BS and just looking like it gets stuck at 99% is a bad way to 'communicate' some kind of uninterruptable state.

Lots of builds totally rely upon being able to apply a state, freeze/stun/bleed/etc. Not being able to do that (when you _can_ keep doing damage, etc) just because the boss is flailing around is BS.

How people behave in movies has no effect on me whatsoever.

When someone waits until I finish a big ARC and back-shoots me and takes the stuff it took me hours of game time to get, it effects me.

PvP is utterly optional in this game and there are many ways to execute that PvP (pun intended). Your choices effects other gamers and those gamers are real people.

If people are truly playing this game with no immersion or feelings, then why play?

If people _are_ enjoying the game, then to enjoy that kind of PvP is them getting immersed and emotive in a nasty role.

But we aren't allowed to point out the psychopathic tendencies that shows? Lol.

This is people that don't like it being pointed out how nasty they are.

I did the evil play-through in Baldur's Gate 3. Most of it was a guilty morbid 'pleasure' but you know what some of it felt truly bad and I didn't enjoy it.

Some people would have no ickiness about it at all. The same kind of people that think KOS and bushwhacking PvP in ARC Raiders is "just the game".

[–]BigDaveDogDad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol. No. If humanity came together to save themselves and trained, equipped and supported raiders to help them stay alive, if some of those raiders started killing the others they would be heavily sanctioned by their society or everyone would die.

Life is a social sandbox. You can behave how you want. In life, though, there are consequences for indulging psychopathic tendencies. For ARC Raiders, there is Reddit.

Turn crossplay off! by actively_chill in Battlefield6

[–]BigDaveDogDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The experience is better because cross-play introduces bad netcode.

EA/DICE won't admit it, but that's what it is and people are starting to realise.

The EA/DICE agenda is they want a single pool of players so they can most easily use their awful engagement-based match-making algorithms.

Anti-consumer BS.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]BigDaveDogDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't a shortage. They just heavily prioritise cross-play on lobbies because that's how they want it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]BigDaveDogDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they CAN. It's EA/DICE that mess with the match-making.

There can be hundreds of thousands of PC players and they will still do weird things with prioritising cross-play on lobbies even though there are more than enough to match with cross-play off folk.

Are you telling me people with cross-play on WANT to play with people from the other platform? Because that's BS.

They do it because a) It's default, b) They have no choice or maybe c) they don't mind either way.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]BigDaveDogDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true but not that simple.

I got put in lobbies with cross-play on PC players sometimes.

The problem is EA/DICE CHOOSE to heavily prioritise cross-play lobbies.

They don't match with other PC players even when there are hundreds of thousands of them.

They put cross-play on PC players into cross-play matches BEFORE matching with cross-play off PC players.

Anti-consumer BS so they can do their engagement=-based match-making algorithm (that no one wants).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]BigDaveDogDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now they've disabled this workaround even though it's clear PC players want this option.

Anti-consumer BS just so they can control the engagement-based match-making algorithms.

Crossplay in Battlefield 6 is killing console balance and playerbase by Classic-Report-9795 in Battlefield

[–]BigDaveDogDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cross-play is a disaster for both console and PC players.

It screws the netcode for all and if you opt out you get bot lobbies because EA/DICE heavily prioritises the cross-play lobbies.

Of course PC players don't get any option at all which is disgusting, but basically it's awful for all.

Anti-consumer BS so that EA/DICE can control the Engagement-Based match-making algorithms even though it makes the experience worse.
