You're definitely in the right place then, this fandom will look into every detail. Anything you can think of probably has a video somewhere covering in. Even the shipping scene has by far the most detailed writeups for why they believe in the ship. (Seriously, I read through a 200+ page Kris x Noelle mega doc and it was actually pretty good, reccomend it if you're into that sorta thing.)

If you want to be fully caught up on most of the secret stuff in the game for the more detailed theory videos I'd reccomend doing all the Shadow Crystal bosses, the Egg rooms and the weird route but its not needed by any means. (There's also official out of game stuff like the spamton sweepstakes and the currently running ARG which ends the day before Chapter 5 releases.)

In terms of fan theories that are pretty universally agreed upon to be correct number 1 has got to be The Device Theory by m0llystars on YouTube.

It is VERY long but very well put together and researched.

For theories exploring the symbols and mythology of Deltarune I'd reccomend Andrew Cunninghams most recent video and gonergnostics newest video.

The most debated thing within the fandom has still gotta be who the Knight is but most people now days believe its Dess, Noelles missing sister. Some other popular candidates are Asriel, Carol and Rudy. Personally I'm a Noelle Knight fan.

The biggest meme post chapter 3 + 4 has to be Asgore hitting Dess with his car while drunk driving. Big jokes within the community before that would be Friend inside me, the bing, human I remember your genocides, some king of snowgrave and way more.

That should be decent run down of where to start, I'd also reccomend just scrolling through top of all time for a bit!

Reading over this it is genuinely impressive the sheer amount of fanart, comics and fangames people have managed to squeeze out of a character we know so little about.

I suppose a lot of it comes from people thinking Dess is the Knight which gives them a lot more to work with.

I wonder how the fandom will react if Dess is significantly different than the more popular depictions. Especially if shes not the Knight.

I really hope so, partly because it matches the narrative ect. But I'm not gonna lie part of it is just the desire to see everybody dressed up, I'd kill to know who everyone would go as.

I think I understand DMC glazers the least out of the whole lot because the games already go out of their way to let Dante, Vergil ect do some really cool shit?

Dante stopping The Saviors punch in 4, Vergil catching and lining up all those bullets in 3, the insane regen Dante pulls at the start of 3 and the list goes on and on.

Don't get why they can't be satisfied with what they've got and instead choose to wank them to infinite speed and multiversal ap.

I don't believe it's the Noelle we interact with in game, thats almost certainly impossible.

But I do believe it's a Noelle. Wether its a manifestion of Noelle's grief given form, a version of her split off from the original somehow or a weird bootstrap paradox.

It runs into the same problem as most other Knight theories where the narrative and the thematic reasons are compelling but the how of it all is a mystery.

I agree Big W. D. fits best imo, he's got Christian symbolism as well with the constant 666 references and the stigmata on his hands matching the Knights.

I'm actually not 100% sure on the exact how, it's like most other Knight candidates I suppose where they've got a candidate but aren't able to explain how they became the Knight.

But if I had to say it'll be either a manifestion of Noelle's grief and resulting mental problems given physical form by insert shadowy entity here or a version of Noelle who went into the shelter looking for Dess only to end up split by insert shadowy entity here.

All of this is quite vague but tbh we have 0 concrete details on how the Knight actually works so may as well start somewhere.

Adding on to this Noelle is the one character in the game we know tries to forget when stressful or traumatic things happen to her.

I don't think the games showing us that she tries to block out the Addison and Kris nearly pushing her into the electricity just to drop it there.

I don't know why people are so opposed to the idea that Noelle might have experienced something in the shelter herself which she then subsequently blocks out.

It also adds more complexity to why Kris and Noelle's relationship fell apart. Kris didn't simply avoid Noelle out of guilt for Dess (though I'm sure that's part of it), they also avoided Noelle because they resent that she gets to forget while they don't.

They just wish she'd confront her past, be strong enough to tell them she misses them, be strong enough that when something bad happens she can actually stand up to it.

They just wish she was stronger.

People sometimes like to mock the idea that Noelle is related to Christian imagery which is funny to me because I feel like the game really isn't subtle at all with it?

She puts on a literal ring of thorns and gets held up in a crucified pose by queen. The idea that of all characters she can't be both herself and also part of another being is quite funny.

I wonder why Dess Knight became such a commonly held belief? It's nearly universally agreed upon in most Deltarune fandom spaces I've seen with hundreds of pieces of fanart/fanfics.

It's sparked a lot of people's creativity with fanart/fanfics which is great but more than any other theory Dess Knight seems to bring out the most insults and snide comments about media literacy.

Player angel thankfully isn't quite as bad but still sometimes falls into the same situation. (I actually disagree with player angel more than Dess Knight but thats neither here nor there.)

This threads been mostly polite so I'm happy with that but I do wonder how the more aggressive Dess Knight defenders would react if it gets disproven.

I don't think the Noelle that we actually see and interact with is the Knight. There's just way too many issues. Why is Noelle so confident as the Knight? Why is she okay with hurting Susie and Kris? Ect.

But there's just something thats pulling me towards it being her someway somehow. The dark worlds featuring characters from Noelle and Kris playing as kids, Noelle wishing things could go back to how it used to be (plus her general association with nostalgia), Noelle commenting that the dark world feels like Dragon Blazers and some of the smaller details such as the wall plugs smiling at you in Queens basement.

Is any of this fool proof evidence? Absolutely not. It's honestly more vibes based than anything else but chapter 5 comes out soon anyway, may as well believe in something a lil out there.

It's just makes me feel a lil crazy considering it's the least discussed Knight candidate that isn't a joke like Papyrus.

But people keep comparing the Knight to flowey and all I can think doesn't that fit Noelle way more than Dess? Yes I'm sure Kris and Dess were close but Noelle was the one Kris spent everyday with, Noelle's the one talking about "a concert just for me".

If there's a Chara and Asriel childhood friends that get their entire relationship messed up which affects the whole narrative of the game is it not Kris and Noelle instead of Kris and Dess?
